Quentin Dupieux, known as Mr. Oizo and from the cult film Rubber, is back with a new absurd, surreal comedy: Réalité. In this absurd, sleekly designed film, cinematographer Jason dreams of directing his first horror film. The cast includes Alain Chabat (The Science of Sleep) and Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), among others. Philip Glass composed the music. Réalité opens in theaters on August 20.

Jason is an imperturbably calm cameraman who dreams of making his first horror film in which people's brains are blown up by television sets. Wealthy producer Bob Marshall is willing to finance his project. On one condition: Jason gets 48 hours to find the best scream in film history.

Réalité depicts a world in which wild boars eat VHS tapes, cooking shows are hosted by eczema-covered men in mouse costumes, and an aspiring director discovers that the conceptual trash art film he wants to make has long been playing to empty theaters.

Quentin Dupieux caused a sensation in 2010 with Rubber, a horror film starring a murderous car tire. In an interview with Les Cahiers du Cinéma, Dupieux says he is happy to be working with real actors again: "I didn't share anything with this car tire, which was unpleasant and completely passive on the set."
