SINTERKLAAS EN DE VERDwenenen PAKJESBOOT welcomed its 100,000th visitor after just three weeks, achieving Golden Film status. After only six weeks, the Sinterklaas adventure, starring Frans Bauer, Gerard Joling, and Diego among others, has reached 200,000. This is a remarkable success for the family film by director Martijn van Nellestijn, especially since these cinema-goers were already attending the film before the official arrival and the approaching Sinterklaas celebration. Consequently, the coming weeks are set to generate even greater interest.

To celebrate this success, film distributor E1 Entertainment is organizing a special film screening on Wednesday afternoon, December 2. The 25 submitters of the most original Sinterklaas poem will be able to watch the film in which Gerard Joling plays a role, together with Joling. And perhaps Sinterklaas himself will even drop by. Submissions can be sent until November 27 to [email protected].

The high attendance extras were not expected given the fierce competition from, among others, the animated film UP and the theatrical version of Het Sinterklaasjournaal. Nevertheless, it is now estimated that the film will equal the success of its predecessor SINTERKLAAS EN HET GEHEIM VAN HET GROTE BOEK (around 300,000 cinema visitors, now available on DVD). SINTERKLAAS EN DE VERDWENEN PAKJESBOOT can be seen in more than one hundred cinemas throughout the country until mid-December.
