THE HEAVENLY LIFE ON EARTH
After a trip to the interior of Suriname, filmmaker Jesse de Jong, dissatisfied with his existence, decides to drastically change course and trade his hectic city life for a life in a commune in the countryside. Will he find happiness there?
Jesse de Jong (1972) graduated in 1999 in directing/cinematography from the Netherlands Film and Television Academy. He received a Tuschinski Award in 1999 for his graduation film HET LEGE NEST. The following year, he won a Golden Calf with his short film EEN INTENS REALISTISCH DOCH ROMANTIC LOVE DRAMA. HET HEMELSE LEVEN OP AARDE is a co-production between Circe Films and JESSEFILMS and received support from the Netherlands Film Fund and the Rotterdam Media Fund.
VISAGE
Starring Jean-Pierre Laud, Fanny Ardant, Laetitia Casta, and Lee Kang-Sheng, VISAGE tells the story of a filmmaker who wants to stage the myth of Salom in the Louvre. VISAGE is a co-production of Circe Films with JBA Production (FR), Homegreen Films (TW), Arte, Louvre Museum, and Tarantula (BE).
Tsai Ming-Liang broke through in 1992 with REBELS OF A NEON GOD. In 1994, he won a Golden Lion in Venice for VIVE LAMOUR, and a Silver Bear for THE WAYWARD CLOUD in Berlin in 1995.
Fortissimo Films holds the worldwide rights. Filmmuseum is releasing the film in theaters starting February 25.
