Gerrit Jan Wolffensperger
Wolffensperger (Amsterdam, 1944) is a former parliamentary group leader of D66 and a former broadcasting executive. Wolffensperger studied law and economics and also worked as a photographer, production manager, and cargo officer at the KNSM before becoming a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Amsterdam in 1969.
From 1978 to 1986, he served as an Alderman of Amsterdam on behalf of D66, with portfolios including housing, education, municipal companies, and broadcasting. From 1986 to 1997, he served in the House of Representatives on behalf of D66, the last three years as party group leader.
From 1998 to 2003, he was Chairman of the Executive Board of the NOS (the later Dutch Public Broadcasting).
Wolffensperger currently holds a large number of board and advisory positions, particularly in the fields of copyright and media. For example, he is Chairman of the copyright organization for visual creators Pictoright, interim Chairman of the Foundation for the Provision of Islamic Broadcasting Time, and a member of the Council for Journalism. Furthermore, he is, among other things, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the forensic psychiatric clinic De Kijvelanden.
