The animated film Free as a Bird by writer and director Joyce van Diepen has received the award for best animated film at the International Children's Film Festival of India. This was announced by producer Corrino.

The film tells the story of a boy growing up in a war zone. Despite these circumstances, he holds onto hope for a better future. He decides to pursue his dreams.

The International Kids Film Festival is an online festival where children from over 1,000 schools in India choose their favorite film. Together with a team of international jury members, this youth jury unanimously decided to award the prize to Vrije Vogel.

Vrije Vogel had previously been selected for competition at the Stuttgart International Animation Film Festival.
It received a 'highly commended certificate' for the Golden Knight Malta International Festival 2017.

Vrije Vogel is a production of Corrino and KRO-NCRV, in collaboration with Animation Studio NMTrix, and supported by the Media Fund and the Netherlands Film Fund.
