Director and screenwriter Relinde de Graaff submitted her original work to the SONY PROduction Awards and finished in first place in the competition.
The SONY PROduction Awards, launched by Sony Professional and organized in the Netherlands by Filmstart.nl, is a new European film competition for short films up to 3 minutes.
The competition takes place entirely online. The jury consists of film professionals and the public who can vote online.
The winners of the national preliminary rounds from various European countries are competing for the European prize. To do so, they will shoot a new short film using the recently launched Sony NXCAM camera.
46 films were submitted via Filmstart.nl. 800 people voted for the films.

We were surprised by the dedication filmmakers showed in creating beautiful short films specifically for this competition. From very well-edited and shot short dramas to small, beautiful films based on a concept. We are very pleased with the jury's choice; after all, it could have gone either way, as online visitors had so much influence on the voting result. We believe that this short film is the rightful winner, as far as we are concerned as well.
The short film "Infinite Memory" is about two little boys trying to outdo each other in a funny dialogue. The boys keep finding new ways to show how important or special they are.
The promising filmmaker Relinde de Graaff is currently studying for a master's in camera acting in Madrid:
"When I heard about the Sony competition, I immediately wrote a script and let my classmates read it. They were enthusiastic, and we immediately made preparations to film it. I had spotted the Black boy from the film on the subway and asked him to come to the casting. We were allowed to borrow equipment from school, and we arranged a location through connections. We had no money and little time, but sometimes you can still create something special with limited resources."
The prize consists of a SONY camcorder, a Sony Vegas PRO package, and an introduction to the
new SONY NXCAM. Subsequently, Relinde can participate in the European competition.
