In co-production with Het Ketelhuis, the NBF is organizing a theme evening about filmmaking in 3D in Amsterdam on Wednesday evening, June 23. The number of cinemas with 3D facilities is growing rapidly, and more and more films are being released in 3D alongside 2D. But 3D is also gaining ground in the television world; SBS has plans to launch a 3D channel this year, capitalizing on the arrival of consumer 3D television. In short: a trend that cannot be ignored, which is reason enough for the NBF to dedicate a theme evening to this subject.

Filming in 3D has a significant impact on the script, storyboard, production, the filming itself, and post-production. Therefore, this theme evening will cover the entire spectrum of film and television production in 3D, from production to distribution and from script to screening.

Production company A Million Dreams has been a pioneer in the production of 3D films in the Netherlands since 2008. Filmmakers Mathijs Geijskes and Ivo Broekhuizen of A Million Dreams will share their experiences at this themed evening and show examples of their own work in digital 3D projection:
- The first 3D fiction film in the Netherlands 'Boat Trip/Duel' on the water (filmed with two Viper Filmstream cameras);
- The 'making of' of 'Boat Trip', which was filmed entirely from a recording boat;
- The first 3D commissioned film in the Netherlands in HD (also fiction, filmed with two Red cameras).
In addition, a specialist panel will provide an explanation of various facets of 3D filming, such as animation and post-production. The names of the panel members will be added to the NBF website next week. So keep an eye on www.nbf.nl for the latest updates.

When: Wednesday, June 23, 2010, doors open from 19:30, program 20:00 - 22:00, afterwards there is the opportunity to have drinks in the café of Het Ketelhuis.

Admission is free for NBF and DDG members upon presentation of their membership card (don't have a card yet? Send a digital passport photo to [email protected] or [email protected]). For non-members, admission is €5, payable at the box office of Het Ketelhuis. Registration for the evening is recommended as seating is limited.
