, my name is Rob Gradisen, and I put out a casting call to audition for our short
film 'Obscura', I would like to tell you a little about our story ; it's a psychological thriller, the lead role is a female protagonist named Elise in her mid to late twenties, brunette from Paris who has a history of psychological problems in the vein of schizophrenia or dissociative disorder ( a split personality ), the story follows her mental deterioration and leads to her death. We are also casting for another female character who will be a supporting role to our protagonist, and two male and one more female part are available, Included with this letter is a logline and synopsis.
Logline:
Elise Moreau, a young well to do art house cinema owner, comes to believe she is being stalked. Attempting to discover the identity of her stalker, she takes a "rollercoaster ride" through the darkest corners of her mind.
Synopsis:
Elise Moreau, a young, well to do, French, art house cinema proprietor, living in Amsterdam. After premiering a challenging avante garde feature one evening she finds a recording video camera on her way home. This simple moment concludes a change that has been under way for some time now, and marks the beginning of a terrible ordeal involving a mystery stalker. The appearance of this stalker forces her to make a disturbing realization about herself, seeing deeper into her self than she is ready for. She is confronted by darker sides of her self that appears foreign to her personality, and enters into a battle with these personal demons in order to find reconciliation. A unique telling of the struggle between Romantic versus Classical worldviews.
Her solution is extreme, she finds meaning in her life, but by no means is it conventional, embracing her delusions as reality.
Shooting Dates : 10, 11, 12 of august and 17, 18, 19 of august and 24, 25, 26
the date of the audition is friday 20th of July at 13:00 in the afternoon location SAE Amsterdam , Johan van Hasseltweg 31, 1021 KN Amsterdam
This is a no-budget production, therefore the travel costs to the audition will not be paid, however we will cover travel costs for the shooting days for the actors that are selected and of coarse catering will be arranged on location.
