Casting Call For Student Production Short Film
Looking for both FEMALE & MALE to act in my 2nd year, 1st SEM short film.
CAST NEEDED:
Rüya: FEMALE
Djinn: MALE
What I am looking for in Rüya: Overview
Age: Early 20’s - Late 20’s
Hair: Dark Brown Hair
Appearance: Youthful looking
Some Backstory:
Setting: Rüya lives in a modest, dimly lit apartment that reflects her inner world—cold, empty, and filled with a sense of melancholy. Her home is an isolated, almost clinical space, marked by disorganization and personal clutter.
Rüya is defined by her quiet, introverted nature. She's intelligent, perceptive, and deeply introspective but often disconnected from those around her. She’s not outwardly confrontational but instead internalizes her struggles, which has led her to build emotional walls.
what I am looking for in Djinn: Overview
Age: (NOT SPECIFIED IN THE SCRIPT) But personal preference (early 20’s - late 20’s)
Hair: Dark Brown Hair
Appearance: Youthful looking
Some backstory:
The Djinn is an enigmatic, supernatural entity that exists as both the antagonist and the catalyst for Rüya’s internal journey in The Djinn. Mysterious, malevolent, and elusive, it is an ancient being whose power draws upon the dark recesses of the human psyche. Though the Djinn seems to possess its own sinister motives, its actions are more than just a manifestation of malice—The Djinn's appearance, mannerisms, and interactions are meant to evoke unease and terror, yet, paradoxically, it represents an inevitable confrontation with the very aspects of the self that one tries to suppress. In this way, the Djinn is both a tormentor and an agent of transformation.
I am currently seeking two performers comfortable with close physical proximity on screen. This short film relies heavily on visual storytelling and the principle of "show, don’t tell," meaning expressive, nuanced facial acting is essential. Dialogue is minimal, as the suspense-driven narrative unfolds primarily through subtle, emotive performances.
