In his pursuit for these answers, the filmmaker interviews young adults who have been raised their entire lives by same-sex parents made possible by The Netherlands being the first to legalize gay marriage as early as 2001. Exploring their experiences socially and emotionally, the filmmaker attempts to conceptualize those children's personal and life development in relation to the absence of their parent of the other sex and their perspectives on it. The filmmaker takes into comparison other instances where children experience the absence of one parent due to varying causes like death and divorce. Since this family structure has been unimpeded to form and thrive in our modern age only recently, the filmmaker aims to eventually identify aspects regarding the children where improvement can be made or not needed for these households including his. Only this way he can rest assured that he has done his homework for the sake of his future children and to therefore venture his future family with firm and confident steps.
