Winners Southern Film Festival 2022

TILBURG – The Southern Film Festival 2022 took place for the second time this year at the Cinecitta cinema in Tilburg on May 13 and 14. The festival focuses on short films by filmmakers from Brabant, Limburg, Zeeland, and Flanders. On Saturday evening, the festival concluded with the presentation of the film awards. This year's jury consisted of actress Christanne de Bruijn and director/screenwriter Willem Bosch. Filmmakers from Flanders were the big winners this year. JURY PRIZES This year, the award for Best Film went to the film Howling by Laura Van Haecke. The film tells the story of nine-year-old Bo, who is happy that she can finally spend time with her father. However, when her father fails to show up, Bo is left to fend for herself and learns to become more independent. The Talent Award, a prize for a promising filmmaker, went to director Thomas Deknop for his film Binge Loving. An atmospheric and idiosyncratic film about a private detective from Brussels who is taken out of his comfort zone when his client interferes with his work. AUDIENCE AWARD Visitors to the festival could also vote for their favorite film. Beau Monde by director Hans Vannetelbosch was chosen as the favorite and won the Audience Award. The film is a mosaic narrative set in a top restaurant, following the kitchen staff and the guests. As the evening progresses, the viewer discovers deeper conflicts and the poignant nature of some of the characters. The true nature of this 'Beau Monde' surfaces. CINESUD SOUTHERN FILM PITCH In collaboration with CineSud, a pitch competition also took place on Friday, May 13, where filmmakers could pitch a plan for a film project to a professional jury. Director Veerle de Wilde won the competition with her film plan, Ultraviolet. She receives a production budget of €2,000 from CineSud to help realize the plan. Farmhouse with large barn wanted for feature film

For a new Dutch feature film we are looking for a remote and authentic (living) farm as the main location. The house may not look too modern from the outside and inside and the house may have been lived in, in addition, there must be at least one large barn in the yard. The farm may be located anywhere in the Netherlands or just across the border in Belgium and Germany. We are emphatically not looking for an active farm where people work. Ideally, the farmhouse and the yard meet the following requirements, but we are flexible in this; -House with four bedrooms on the upper floor and a spacious basement. -At least one large barn in the yard. -Remote location, no direct neighbors and preferably the farm is located between the meadows. -We prefer a bit of a dilapidated appearance (but livable). We need this location for a total of 19-22 days, including night shots. These admission days are divided into four periods spread over approximately 6-9 months. In these periods we need the farm for 2, 6 and 10 days and much later we have one separate shooting day. It is possible that we have to extend some shooting periods slightly and this will of course be discussed first. Our intention is to start the recordings in the autumn of 2022 and the filming periods on the farm will of course be discussed in close consultation with the location holder. Naturally, a fee is ready for the use of the farm as a film set and the location is carefully handled during the filming. In the unlikely event that something breaks, we are insured for this.
