During the shoot with 5 musicians and a crew in Auschwitz for my new film REQUIEM FOR AUSCHWITZ, we were exactly on time. At the end of the day, Auschwitz went into lockdown, and the day after, Birkenau. We were able to film in a completely empty camp, which yielded striking images in which the musicians walk through empty streets and over empty tracks in Birkenau. The TV broadcast by NTR was scheduled for August 2 but is now being moved to a later date, because the theatrical release has also been postponed. This film will be the long-awaited sequel to EEN STUKJE BLAUW IN DE LUCHT from 2007, the first film in the Netherlands to depict the murder of nearly 1 million Sinti and Roma. Filmpeople, the online network for the film industry, will continue under the leadership of Sander Jansen as of April 1. On Tuesday, March 31, Fedor Limperg, co-initiator of the platform, relinquished his shares and left the company. Filmpeople was founded in 2008 by the two filmmakers. The company aims to provide a professional online platform for the film world that is accessible to everyone. For 12 years, Filmpeople has been supporting film professionals in the Netherlands and Flanders through various websites, including Filmvacatures.nl, Filmindustry.nl, Filmcastings.nl, and Filmnieuws.nu. By registering, filmmakers can make use of various services. The people served are not only film professionals and film students, but also actors and interested parties, for example. In doing so, the platform built upon its predecessor Filmstart.nl in 2008. “We have always taken an overarching approach,” stated the departed Limperg. In addition to his work as a filmmaker and for Filmpeople, Sander Jansen has been active for years for various film-related websites and organizations, including VEVAM and ISAN. He also played a key role in the creation of the VERS website (formerly NFTVM).
