Doc Industry Day

The first Doc Industry Day will take place on February 17 during the DOCfeed film festival in Eindhoven. This day focuses on future prospects for (young) documentary filmmakers. Brabant has a rich documentary tradition. Look at the Golden Calf awards that came to Brabant, look at the countless documentaries made for Omroep Brabant. At the moment, however, the film climate is grim, certainly financially. It takes a long-term effort to realize new projects, even outside the region. For established filmmakers, but certainly also for young talent. The Doc Industry Day seeks answers and new avenues for realizing films. We stand on the eve of new ways of watching and new ways of financing. How can young makers respond to the disappearance of regional funding from the Media Fund? And how can filmmakers respond to new techniques and changing viewing habits? The Doc Industry Day brings national broadcasters, international expertise, and inspiring filmmakers to Brabant. The aim is to subsequently share that knowledge with all attending (Brabant-based) documentary makers and producers. In the afternoon, four selected young makers present their film plans to a professional jury in a public pitch. The strongest plan receives a development grant of €2,000. The Doc Industry Day will be a day full of inspiration, workshops, and practical guidance for everyone working professionally in the documentary sector.

Screenwriter for hobby projects.

I have been working as a writer since 2000 and so far I have published over 40 books; mainly novels, but also thrillers (including an eduth thriller), fantasy and a children's book. Because I would like to broaden my horizons, I am currently immersing myself in screenwriting. And while training and acquiring knowledge are necessary for this, gaining practical experience is probably the most instructive of all. For that reason I would like to work, as a screenwriter, on a hobby project (film, documentary... doesn't matter) where there is time and space for consultation (and understanding that the profession is new to me) I have to be able to work from home, since I live in Sweden. As far as I'm concerned, consultation is fine via the internet/skype.
