The End of Film research week

The End of Film What is the future of film? Although it is the youngest art form, in its short existence it has undergone rapid development from a fairground attraction to a prominent element in our society. Although the major discoveries of its visual language took place early on, it has always continued to develop technically. But it is precisely these technological developments that now challenge its continued existence. The visual capabilities of computers and the rise of the internet have fundamentally changed our world. What influence will virtual reality, interactivity, and the advent of online platforms have on film? Will they remain the same stories, but created in a different way? Or will new filmmakers rewrite the DNA of classic cinema forever? Will this be the end of film – as we have known it? This question is explored during our theme week through experimentation and reflection on the sub-themes of immersive, interactive, and collective storytelling. Twenty passionate young filmmakers from the Netherlands and Belgium, supported by actors and crew, lock themselves away in the middle of nowhere to take film to a new world. They are guided in this by innovative filmmakers and experts. Visit the website for more information about the guest lecturers. Academies with which we have contact are: AKV|St.Joost, Willem de Kooning, CMD Breda, NFTA, and HKU from the Netherlands, and Narafi, Ritcs, and St Lukas in Brussels. The week culminates in a final presentation that offers insight into the vision of a future generation of filmmakers. The week takes place from August 22 to 26, 2016. Regardless of which discipline you study, we find it interesting to create a group composition that is as diverse as possible. Whether you are a filmmaker, cameraman, or work in the world of new media, sign up now to discover your innovative filmmaking during The End of Film research week. www.endoffilm.nl www.facebook.com/theendoffilm trailer https://vimeo.com/161074185 Email: [email protected] Registration deadline: May 30 The selection is made based on your motivation, background, and vision. Dutch films BON BINI HOLLAND and PUBLIC WORKS n

Four films represented by the Dutch sales agent Dutch Features Global Entertainment, including the cinema hit BON BINI HOLLAND with Jandino Asporaat and PUBLIEKE WERKEN, based on the bestseller of the same name by Thomas Rosenboom, will soon be available worldwide on Netflix. In addition to the Dutch titles, the deal that Dutch Features signed with Netflix also includes the award-winning drama YOU CARRY ME, Montenegro's official entry for the Academy Awards©, and SUICIDE, the very first action thriller ever set in Jerusalem. YOU CARRY ME and SUICIDE can be seen on the popular streaming service from May 15. It is not yet known when the Dutch films can be seen exactly. Pim van Collem, CEO of Dutch Features: “The deal we signed with Netflix is the most important SVOD deal since Dutch Features was founded in 2012. It is great to see a platform like Netflix committing itself to several films from our catalog - a true confirmation of the quality and global potential of our titles. In addition, this deal is an important milestone for Dutch cinema: two major Dutch films, which have already proved very successful in the cinema, will soon be available to millions of subscribers around the world.” During the film festival in Cannes, Dutch Features will present many new titles to the international film world in addition to the above films, including the acclaimed and successful KNEELING ON A BED OF VIOLEN with Barry Atsma and Noortje Herlaar, which achieved the status of Golden Film last March.
