NBF & IDFA present: HDR Seminar How High Dynamic Range will change your film workflow On Tuesday, November 22, the NBF, in collaboration with IDFA, is organizing a seminar on HDR (High Dynamic Range), a Q&A, and an HDR product display. Visitors can view and compare HDR content, learn about the practical challenges, and discover what is required to shoot and deliver a production in HDR. An HDR screen sells itself – the images look better, fresher, and more convincing! While 3D seemed interesting only because of its novelty, and 4K has not yet lived up to its promise, it is clear that the difference HDR makes is future-proof. Therefore, the question is not whether HDR will change the future of filmmaking, but when. The NBF has asked various industry partners to show visitors which HDR products are already on the market. In this way, visitors can gain a closer understanding of how HDR will influence their workflow, both on set and in post-production. Marcel Gonska (Germany) is one of the key speakers at the seminar. He is the CEO & Founder of WLC and develops & coordinates CalMAN's sales, marketing, and PR activities in Europe and the Middle East. Philippe Vié from Cam-a-lot will talk about the influence of HDR on the work of cameramen. Guy Molin (ICA) is not only the initiator but also the moderator of the evening. The Limburg Film Festival (LFF) will take place for the first time on January 13-14-15, 2017. This weekend will be entirely dedicated to Limburg film. Limburg has a rich film culture, with filmmakers enjoying national and international fame. We have two Oscar winners, Mike van Diem (Sittard) and Marleen Gorris (Roermond). But also various Golden Calf winners, such as Remy van Heugten (Heerlen), Michiel ten Horn (Horst), Rob Lücker (Tegelen), and Jim Taihuttu (Venlo). And a strong new generation is on the way, shaped in part by initiatives such as Cinesud and the Limburg Film Fund. In short, the Limburg film sector is flourishing, and that deserves attention. By bringing Limburg films together in a 'Showcase' film festival, they are given a large, new platform. The Limburg Film Festival exists to make the best Limburg films visible. The Limburg Film Festival takes place at Filmtheater De Nieuwe Scene in Venlo, which serves as the festival's hub. The LFF will be festively opened on Friday evening, January 13, with the official premiere of the L1 documentary Jacques Peeters; Portretten Uit De Peel, by Wiek Lenssen (Swolgen). The complete program will be published in mid-December. Films are eligible for selection at the LFF provided they have a clear Limburg link. This means that at the very least, the story must largely take place in Limburg, or that a significant position within the film production must be held by a native of Limburg, such as the director, first cinematographer, or lead actor. The festival is now open for film submissions. Films are programmed in three categories: feature film, feature documentary, and short films of all genres. It is a competitive festival, meaning there is a prize to be won for 'Best Film' in every category. In addition to the competitive categories, the LFF also screens specials, such as oeuvre exhibitions, and presents an award for the best film by a young regional filmmaker (under 30, regardless of genre). Beyond the film programming, the festival should also become a meeting place for filmmakers and film enthusiasts. Cinesud will be responsible for the fringe programming at the LFF, consisting of a top-class event, a workshop, and a VIP event. By joining forces, the Limburg Film Festival aims to grow into an annual event. The deadline for film submissions is November 25.
