Oct 24 and 25: Masterclass Game Direction

On October 24 and 25, Cinesud is organizing a masterclass on 'Directing Actors'. Under the guidance of experienced and award-winning director Remy van Heugten (Gluckauf, Van God Los - de serie, Feuten, Witte Vis) and a group of professional actors and actresses, you will spend two days sharpening and refining your direction of actors! Due to the intensity of the course and the specialized guidance and coaching, a maximum of 8 participants can join. So be quick! custom made During this two-day, tailor-made 'Directing' masterclass, you will get to work as a director yourself, using pre-selected scenes from a film script. Prior to the course on October 24 and 25, you will determine your needs and requirements together with Remy during a (telephone) intake interview. Based on this, one or two specific scenes will be selected in consultation for you to work on during the weekend. During the course, you will learn to collaborate with professional actors, becoming a true source of inspiration for the people who will bring your ideas to life. You will be provided with tools to give direction, psychological goals, intentions, and imagery to the actors based on a scene. Additionally, we cover how to create freedom in the interplay by learning to think in terms of the possibilities of a scene, rather than thinking in a very result-oriented way (“look angry, look sad”). Everyone will take turns working from the same film script, but with different scenes. In this way, all participants will be able to closely follow what the director, who is standing on the floor, is doing. Participation The course is taught by Remy van Heugten. In addition, there will be 6 to 8 professional actors (male/female, depending on the number of participants) of various age groups with extensive experience in theater, film, and television present with whom you will work. Depending on your needs as a participant and the availability of the actors, these will be announced as soon as possible. Participation in this specialist course, primarily intended for directors, costs €299 for members, €399 for non-members, and €249 for students (members) (all amounts exclude VAT). Due to the intensive guidance and assignments, there is room for only 8 participants. The course is also recorded, so that you can watch it back later at your leisure to recall experiences and new insights. Lunch, drinks, and snacks are provided. Tip: costs for Cinesud masterclasses are fully deductible from your income tax! Tip 2: Not a member yet? Sign up and benefit from the member discount immediately! This activity is made possible in part by a contribution from the Netherlands Film Fund, the Province of Limburg, and the Municipality of Maastricht.

NBF & The Academy present: ''Dutch ACES seminar"

Due to the great success of the first ACES seminar in 2013, with and by the driving force behind ACES, Jim Houston, the NBF is organizing a follow-up seminar during the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht on September 29, by popular demand. ACES has become the industry standard over the past two years. There are virtually no companies left that do not use or support ACES. While the first seminar was primarily intended to introduce ACES, this follow-up focuses on the practical use of ACES: what are the do's and don'ts on set and in post-production? Speakers In collaboration with The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, we are delighted to welcome award-winning and widely acclaimed DOP Theo van de Sande as the keynote speaker. He will delve deeper into ACES in practice on the film set. Additionally, renowned colorist and ACES expert Dado Valentic (UK) will give a presentation on the aspects of ACES during post-production What is ACES? ACES is a standardized approach; it is a new way of handling color in the filming, creation, viewing, and processing of digital film files. ACES guarantees creators that the colors will always be the same, despite many different production methods. Today, ACES is applied in leading film industries around the world. Who is the seminar for? The presentations are of a high technical level and are of interest to producers and directors as well as DOPs, lighting technicians, and assistants. Additionally, for editors, VFX, and colorists. Introduction to ACES-related products To better demonstrate what ACES means in practice, various products ready for use with ACES will be shown in the hall before and after the program. This provides an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the latest techniques and packages from leading players in the market. Program 19:00 – 20:00 Walk-in drinks and opportunity to get acquainted with ACES-related products 20:00 – 22:00 Program 22:00 – 23:00 Drinks and opportunity to get acquainted with ACES-related products What: Dutch ACES Seminar – the sequel When: Tuesday, September 29, 2015 Where: Cloud Nine Hall, Tivoli Vredenburg, Vredenburgkade 11, Utrecht Costs: NBF members free, non-members €25 (including 4 drink vouchers), students €10 (tickets) Tickets for the seminar can be purchased via this link: https://www.eventbrite.nl/e/tickets-nbf-the-academy-of-motion-pictures-presenteren-dutch-aces-seminar-the-sequel-met-theo-van-de-sande-18531334721.
