Richard Dols

Documentary 'For the Silence' on national tour

Documentary 'Before the Silence' on national tour Maastricht, March 18, 2015 - After many successful screenings in Limburg, the documentary 'Voor de stilte' by filmmaker Richard Dols is now going on a national tour. With his film, Dols touches upon the current debate on decentralization in healthcare. While healthcare is nowadays usually viewed in hard economic terms, Dols focuses primarily on the softer side. What happens to you when you know you are going to die? And what can mainstream healthcare learn from the care provided in a hospice? Through talents and memories, we meet seven people in various hospices throughout the Netherlands. They share their personal stories in the final phase of life, portrayed in a poignant way by Dols. In these last months, it becomes clear that life has more to offer them than they themselves had expected, in which we unravel, among other things, a love for nature, a criminal past, and a lifelong secret. Richard Dols himself was inspired after the death of a close friend to make death in general more openly discussed. He wonders why so many people 'come alive' in a hospice during the final phase of their lives. This project has been made possible in part by the Province of Limburg, the Dela Goede Doelen Fonds, and crowdfunding via Cinecrowd. The national tour was organized by Stichting Zuyderzigt together with Lumière Cinema Maastricht. For this national tour, we are collaborating with hospices in the vicinity of the cinemas and Actiz, the trade association for healthcare entrepreneurs. Screenings are currently scheduled in: March 25 Eindhoven, Filmhuis Plaza Futura at Natlab April 2, Heerlen, Filmhuis De Spiegel April 14, The Hague, Filmhuis Den Haag April 15 Tilburg, Cinecitta April 21 Leeuwarden, Slieker Film May 13 Nijmegen, LUX June 2, Utrecht, Louis Hartlooper Complex June 10 Groningen, Groninger Forum For more dates and information, visit www.voordestilte.nl
