Television broadcast Icelandic – Dutch Feature film REYKJAVIK – ROTTERDAM the original of the USA no. 1 Box Office hit Contraband: The exciting, award-winning thriller and box office success REYKJAVIK – ROTTERDAM will be broadcast on Saturday, March 28 at 23:40 by the Belgian television channel Canvas. The film is a co-production between Rotterdam Films, owned by Dirk Rijneke and Mildred van Leeuwaarden, and the Icelandic production company Blueeyes Productions, owned by Baltasar Kormákur and Agnes Johansen. In the Netherlands, REYKJAVIK-ROTTERDAM premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2010, after which the film was released in Dutch cinemas. In the press, the film was referred to as study material for filmmakers who want to make a crime film for a broader audience. In 2012, the Hollywood remake of REYKJAVIK – ROTTERDAM followed, titled CONTRABAND, which became a number 1 hit in the USA and grossed nearly 100 million dollars worldwide. Summary: Kristofer (Baltasar Kormákur) works as a security guard. He was once a sailor, but that came to an end when he was caught smuggling alcohol. He also spent some time in prison. Because he is always having money problems, he seizes a last chance to sign on to a cargo ship sailing between the port cities of Rotterdam and Reykjavik. On the ship, he finds his old mates again, but he soon realizes that some of them cannot be trusted. Victor Löw plays Hoogland, a dealer in suspicious goods. The lead roles in REYKJAVIK – ROTTERDAM are played by an Icelandic star cast including Baltasar Kormákur (1966), who has since broken through as a director in Hollywood. The screenplay for REYKJAVIK-ROTTERDAM was written by the well-known Icelandic thriller writer Arnaldur Indridason, known for titles such as *Noorderveen* and *Moordkuil*. NBF network drink on Monday March 30 – Exclusive preview Go Short festival with Q&A Mees Peijnenburg On Monday, March 30, 2015 it is already time for the next NBF networking drink! This edition, a special selection from the Go Short International Short Film Festival will be screened, with an explanation by director Kirsten Ruber and a Q&A with up-and-coming directing talent Mees Peijnenburg. If you want to get in the mood for the festival and see some of the highlights of the festival, come and visit the Kring! Go Short – International Short Film Festival Nijmegen From 8 to 12 April, Nijmegen will be dedicated to international short films. Go Short brings together film enthusiasts as well as a large delegation of domestic and foreign film professionals. From more than 2900 submissions, Go Short selected the best 300 European films of the past year. All of these films are eligible for the Go Short Awards. In addition to the competition program, this year's festival also focuses on filmmaker Gunhild Enger (Norway), films from the Baltic States and the theme Generation I. Filmmaker Yann Gonzalez (France) is present as a special guest. His inspiration program is shown on 16 mm. There are various workshops and lectures for professionals. The NBF is collaborating with Go Short for the fifth time this year and is organizing an inspiring Industry Day on Friday 10 April during the festival.
