The experts are Michel Schöpping, Mark Glynne, and Ben Zijlstra. Filmmakers increasingly regard a film's sound design as an important element of cinematic form: sound guides every viewer's experience and creates an emotional impact. The core questions addressed by Michel Schöpping, Mark Glynne, and Ben Zijlstra: 1) What content possibilities are desired from the sound recording during sound editing and mixing, and how do they find their way in? 2) In what way do the form and content of a film influence the sound design, and at what point does this design originate? 3) Which fundamental elements determine the choice of 'the best' method of sound recording for documentary and fiction films? Through original work and sound examples, the infinite range of possibilities is unraveled and interpreted, where the interplay between sound recording, sound editing, and mixing proves to be a determining factor in the form and substantive meaning of the final sound design.
