NBF seminar on 4K on Monday 29 September

Following the Dutch ACES seminar in 2013, the NBF is once again organizing a similar event during the Netherlands Film Festival on Monday, September 29, 2014 (following the NBF networking reception) at the request of many. This time, the theme of 4K takes center stage. We will not only address the question of what 4K entails, but specifically why you should already be producing in 4K. Program 4K is much more than 4X HD. 4K is also about contrast range and color space. With 4K, if you produce internationally, you can really no longer afford to wait. So 4K is not something for TOMORROW, but for TODAY. For camera operators, the quality of recording in 4K is a blessing, provided it is also finished in 4K. If not, you run the risk of being demoted as a DOP to focuser, since 4X zooming can then be done with impunity. Attention will be paid to: - The technology behind 4K - Archiving in 4K - Delivering 4K to major international networks - Why filming in 4K is more beautiful (by leading DOP Geoff Boyle) Before, during, and after the seminar, various parties from the industry will demonstrate the possibilities of 4K in camera and post-production at various stands set up near the Ballroom. On the line-up: Masterclass by Geoff Boyle (UK) – renowed DOP Geoff Boyle is known for his cinematography work on Mutant Chronicles (2008), Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) and Dark Country (2009). In the last few years, Geoff is also advising people on digital technology and teaching workshops on Digital Cinema and 3D - www.gboyle.co.uk Who is the seminar for? This seminar is of interest to virtually all professionals within the film/TV industry. For producers, production managers, and directors alike, as well as cinematographers, camera assistants, data handlers, editors, VFX artists, and color graders. To register Tickets for the seminar can be ordered via Eventbrite. There is only a limited number of tickets available, so respond in time if you want to attend. http://www.eventbrite.nl/e/tickets-nbf-seminar-4k-much-more-than-a-lot-of-pixels-13125856791 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What: NBF seminar – '4K: much more than a lot of pixels' When: Monday, September 29, 2014 Where: Winkel van Sinkel, Oudegracht 158, Utrecht Who: NBF members and other professionals Language: Dutch/English Price: free for NBF and NSC members, €10 for non-members, €5 for members of other associations PROGRAM 17:00 – 18:00 NBF networking drinks 18:00 – 19:00 Film Academy pitches 19:00 – 20:30 walk-in/drinks and demo tables for sponsors 8:30 PM – 10:30 PM program NBF seminar '4K: much more than a lot of pixels' 22:30 – 23:30 drinks and demo tables for sponsors

Fedde Hoekstra

Workshop acting in front of the camera

Through this workshop, we would like to discover new acting talent for a drama series we will be filming next year. We value an educational and intensive workshop more than a short audition. We get to know each other much better when we work hard for a day. The workshop is intended for all actresses and actors who want to expand their knowledge of film. Experience with film or television is not required, but acting must be your passion. We work with existing scenes and improvisation. At the end of the day, we make a short film together, also through improvisation. We assume a shooting day, so we have lunch together on set and there is a 'wrap' at the end of the day. Fedde Hoekstra has been active in the Dutch film world for more than 25 years. Since 1987, he has worked on films such as Spijkerhoek, De hel van '63, DEAL, De boule de boule, and Snuf de hond. As a filmmaker, Fedde is active as a director, actor, and screenwriter. He also produces his own films. Thanks to these diverse perspectives, he is able to provide a complete picture of what is required of actors on a film set. Workshop participants are automatically included in our casting database and are being considered for a role in the series. Date: October 4, 2014 Times: 09:30 - 18:00 Number of participants: max. 8 people. Minimum age: 16 years. Location: BackBone, Groningen. Cost: € 225 (incl. VAT) Price includes food and drinks. The Pitch at NFF 2014 - win €5,000 euros

ShortsTV, the TV channel for short films, offers you the opportunity to pitch your new short film project during the competition The Pitch during the 34th Netherlands Film Festival. The winner receives a €5,000 production budget, a premiere on television plus professional guidance from ShortsTV. In addition, the winning pitch will be promoted on Cinecrowd.nl in order to realize an additional budget of €5,000 via crowdfunding for the project. You get 2 minutes and 15 seconds to present your idea for a next short film project on camera, in one take, live at the NFF, supplemented with a 45 second reel of previous work. That's your pitch. It will be posted on ShortsTV's Facebook page (Facebook.com/ShortsTV) where the public can vote for their favorite pitch. The five pitches with the most votes are presented to a professional jury, which chooses one winner from these five. This is the third year that ShortsTV organizes The Pitch in the Netherlands together with the Dutch Film Festival. We are proud that no less than two former Pitch winners can be seen with their short films during the NFF. Rob Lücker's film 'Das Wad', winner of the first The Pitch NFF, will premiere during the festival and Emiel Sandtke's film, winner of The Pitch Leuven 2012, 'The Biggest'. Do you also want to see your pitch premiere? Sign up for The Pitch before Sunday 14 September! For more information, visit ShortsTV http://eu.shorts.tv/page.php?id=144. The pitch days are September 25 and 26 and open to the public. The winner will be announced during the NFF Talk Show on Thursday 2 October.
