NBF

CALL: Attention for your company in Cannes via the NBF!

Now that the cash rebate is imminent, the NBF wants to offer all members and Dutch companies the opportunity to make information available to foreign producers. From Thursday 15 May you can offer information for 1 week via the NBF corner in the Dutch pavilion. It is emphatically not the intention to offer information regarding the cash rebate; after all, that information is not yet known. However, it is to be expected that many foreign producers will visit the Dutch pavilion with the new cash rebate in mind to get more information about the film industry in the Netherlands. The NBF wants to give companies the opportunity to spread their information through the NBF stand. Because space is limited and it is not the intention that 1 or 2 companies dominate the NBF stand, the possibility of information provision is limited to flyers, folders, brochures, USB sticks, etc. The material will be managed by our office employee Nienke who will be present at the stand during the week. Not to provide information about companies, but to ensure that everything runs smoothly. It is short notice and to make this set-up successful, we want to know who wants to participate before Friday 2 May 17.00. Costs depend on the number of participants, but we currently estimate that this will be between 250-500 euros per participant. If there are less than 10 participants, it will not take place. Transport of items to Cannes is either arranged centrally or per participant, a decision will be made about this next week. Esther van der ...

Wanted: internship/side job production assistance

Who am I? I will briefly introduce myself: my name is Esther and I am a 22-year-old Communications student from Groningen. I just got back from a study semester in San Diego where I got acquainted with the media production profession, where we devised, drew (storyboard), filmed and edited short films. I enjoyed this so much that I talked to my teacher and asked him for advice on a career in media production. We also attended the production of the TV show Mom in Los Angeles with this class. Film and theater have long been huge passions of mine. The theater and the cinema are places that breathe creativity and where I feel at home. A while ago I therefore decided to actively do something in the theater field and I then joined the organization of the Groninger Studenten Cabaret and as a performer with the Groninger Studenten Toneel (we played an absurdist version of Frankenstein written by Ko van den Bosch of the NNT). Being actively involved in productions, and working with creative people who are completely immersed in this, are fantastic. At the moment I am finishing my Bachelor and in September I will move to Amsterdam for a Communication Master at the UvA. Now I'm looking at whether I can do something in the field of film production in a different way. The job that attracts me the most is that of a producer. In my opinion, my strongest points lie in my organizational and networking skills. What am I looking for I would like to learn a lot about the duties of a producer. A part-time job or internship as a production assistant, where I am very close to the producer, would therefore be fantastic. I am actually looking for an internship or part-time job that can be combined with my studies at the University of Amsterdam. In addition, I am available full time during the summer. I would like to drop by with my resume and explanation.

Silent Ones by Ricky Rijneke selected for Skopje

The Dutch feature film Silent Ones has been selected for the Skopje Film Festival. The festival, which takes place in Macedonia from April 23 to 30, has selected 26 films, including The Missing Picture by Rithy Panh, Heli by Amat Escalante, and work by Ulrich Seidl and Jim Jarmusch. Silent Ones is the feature film debut of Ricky Rijneke and has since been screened at many international festivals, including Moscow, Sarajevo, Sao Paulo, Montreal, Los Angeles, and Berlin. The film won various awards, including Best Debut, Best Cinematography, Best Actor, and recently the top prize for Best Film at the Berlin Independent Film Festival. Silent Ones was previously nominated for the Tiger Award, the competition program and flagship of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, where the film was very positively received by the trade press. The International Cinephile Society (ICS): 'A powerful, very self-assured debut, Silent Ones confirms that the director is one to watch.' The film was compared by the reviewer to the work of Bruno Dumont. Curator Film PHI Center Montreal: 'Attention talent! One of the best films I saw at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Outstanding film debut.' The Dutch press was also very complimentary. De Volkskrant spoke of a wonderful discovery and called the film a confident, disruptive directorial debut. Silent Ones tells the story of a young Hungarian woman (Orsi Tóth) who, after her younger brother Isti disappears, sets off aboard a cargo ship to fulfill her promise to him. A surreal trip balancing on the edge of life and death. Silent Ones was produced by Rotterdam Films (Rijneke & van Leeuwaarden) and was made possible with support from the Netherlands Film Fund and the Mondriaan Fund. International sales are handled by the French sales agent Wide Management. Distributor Contact Film will release the film in the Netherlands at the end of November this year.
