Press release March 18, 2014 New comic web series Vacancy now available on You Tube About the Vacancy Vacature follows the experiences of the highly educated unemployed couple Chiel Ramaeckers (Pieter Verelst) and Mara Keijser (Liza Kollau). Each episode revolves around the search for a job. Very occasionally, it is that coveted dream job that perfectly matches their education and ambitions, but usually it is a position far below their level that, to their frustration, they don't get either. Chiel has been laid off due to budget cuts at the company where he had worked as a sales representative for years. Since then, he has not been as self-assured, and his nerves sabotage his job applications. Mara is full of enthusiasm and ambition now that she has just graduated as a cultural anthropologist, but she has zero experience. The fact that they are not hired is partly Chiel and Mara's fault, but also due to the hiring committees that ask strange questions and set extremely high standards. If Chiel and Mara don't find a job within a few months, they will no longer be able to pay their mortgage and will be forced to move in with Chiel's domineering mother… Besides being comedic and topical, the series is also very relatable for anyone applying for a job. About the creation Filmmakers want to make films. It is as simple as that. But funds have fewer grants to award, processes take a long time, and producers are fickle.
