documentary 'De Duivendrechtse Disney' nominated

Dutch documentary The Duivendrecht Disney, a businessman's idea of an artist is nominated for the FOCAL INTERNATIONAL AWARD 2014 Best Use of Footage in an Arts Production Composition and supervising editor: Berenike Rozgonyi Assembly and mounting: Inti Mego Producer: Flip Nagler, NGN Productions The Duivendrecht Disney is a documentary about the groundbreaking puppet films with which the Dutch animation pioneer Joop Geesink conquered the world. More than fifty years ago, there was a professional film studio in the Netherlands specializing in puppet animation: the Geesink Studio. From the 1940s to the 1970s, this company was run by producer Joop Geesink (1913–1984) and produced hundreds of puppet films under the name Dollywood. The studio won more than 80 international awards, including several Lions Awards from the renowned International Advertising Festival in Cannes. Joop Geesink was one of the great animation pioneers in the Netherlands, along with Marten Toonder and George Pal. The Geesink Studio primarily produced commercials. Apart from their largest Dutch client, Philips, Geesink's international clientele was impressive: Mackeson, Ballantine, Campari, Coca-Cola, Knorr, Heineken, Heinz, and many more. The studio produced commercials for markets in Europe, Asia, South and North America. Germany and Italy were particularly important markets for Geesink; he even opened offices in Düsseldorf and Rome. In its heyday, the studio employed more than 100 staff members. The puppet films are small, visually stunning gems thanks to their professional animation technique, impeccable backgrounds, endearing puppets, and witty stories. The films depict a safe world populated by cheerful characters. The documentary highlights the innovative entrepreneurship of Joop Geesink and the unique talents of his animators through interviews with former employees and countless film clips. screenings 2014 - Cultura24, Cultural Theme Channel broadcast, Netherlands March 9-23 - 6th International Children's Festival, Lucknow, India April 6-12th - Annecy, Annecy, France June 9-14th - Fest AnÄ a International Animation Festival, Žilina, Slovakia June 18-24th - StopTrik International Film Festival, Maribor, Slovenia screenings 2013 - StopTrik International Film Festival, Niepolomice Poland - Kloosterkino-Hoogte 80 open air festival, Arnhem Netherlands - 20th Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film, Stuttgart Germany - Television broadcast, NTR Het Uur van de Wolf, Netherlands - 16th edition Holland Animation Film Festival, Utrecht Netherlands - The Miracle of Eindhoven-Melkweg Cinema, Amsterdam Netherlands screenings 2012 - CLICK!
