The Norwegian-Dutch co-production BLIND has won the Europa Cinemas Label for Best European Film in the Panorama section today. A jury of four exhibitors from the Europa Cinemas network awarded this label for the tenth time during the Berlinale. As a result, the film will receive support from the Europa Cinemas network upon its release. From the jury report "Blind is a breath of fresh air - an original debut feature with a really interesting approach to narrative structure. The film teases the audience, playing with notions of fantasy and reality. Above all, it is an arthouse film that will engage with and provoke debate among the younger audience - a welcome counter point to the predominance of middle-aged dramas." Norwegian Eskil Vogt wrote and directed his debut film BLIND about a woman who has lost her eyesight and becomes increasingly entangled in her own fantasy. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, where Eskil Vogt received the award for Best Screenplay. He previously wrote the screenplays for Reprise and Oslo August 31st by Joachim Trier. BLIND is a co-production of the Norwegian producer Motlys and Lemming Film. International sales are handled by Versatile, and the film is being released in Dutch cinemas by Cinéart.
