Vacancy film role

Dutch web series Vacature is giving away a film role via crowdfunding campaign. Motivation As freelance filmmakers, we know what it is like to be unemployed. We also hear stories from family and friends who are being laid off or fired, who write hundreds of application letters and are invited for an interview only a few times. And that interview can go very strangely. Because what do you answer to the question: "If you were an animal, which animal would you be?" We thought there was a series in that. And so the idea for Vacature de serie was born. A web series for the internet, because web series are the future. Vacature de serie offers encouragement to job seekers, but also to people with a job. Because almost everyone has had to apply for a job at some point. About the Vacancy Besides being comedic and topical, the series is also very relatable for anyone applying for a job. There is a lot of pain in being rejected, but humor and pain go hand in hand. So we might as well laugh about it, right? Vacature follows the adventures of the unemployed couple Chiel and Mara. Each episode revolves around their search for a job. Very occasionally it is that coveted dream job that aligns perfectly with their education and ambitions, but usually it is a position far below their level that, to their frustration, they don't get either. About the creation Now that film funds have fewer and fewer subsidies to award and broadcasters' airtime is limited, many filmmakers are turning to the web. It is very common in America, and it is already happening to some extent in the Netherlands as well. Vacature will be the first Dutch web series about applying for jobs. Budget We made the first two episodes on a tight budget and using partly borrowed equipment. But we did so with a professional and enthusiastic cast and crew of 19 people who believed in it and were willing to invest their time, energy, and talent for free. We promised everyone that they would get paid for the next episodes. Still not the fee they would normally receive, but a fraction of it. If we plan tightly, we can record another six episodes in four days for this amount. That is why we are launching this crowdfunding campaign now and hope for your support. Regional TV & YouTube The Hague regional channel Regio Info Thuis has broadcast the first two episodes. You can also watch them at www.youtube.com/vacaturedeserie Thank you! Amsterdam film school open days start

Master classes for professionals, workshops for companies, and an intensive full-time basic training of 6 or 12 months. From August 22, 2014, the Amsterdam Film School opens its doors every Friday, and often also on Saturdays, at 3:00 PM for a free trial lesson. The first lesson will be taught by director Bram van Splunteren. The Amsterdam Film School is a new institute, located in a 17th-century building at Herengracht 425 in the heart of Amsterdam. All teachers are renowned professionals from the Dutch film industry who consider it important to share their knowledge with colleagues and up-and-coming talent. The school offers master classes for professionals, workshops for companies, and an intensive full-time foundation program of 6 or 12 months. The foundation program is ideal for those who want to develop into an all-round filmmaker in a short time. Examples include an art director who wants to be able to make their own films; a communications student on a gap year; someone looking to make a career change; and a young person who wants to build a portfolio to then specialize for another four years at the Film Academy. With the master classes, professionals and semi-professionals can broaden their knowledge in disciplines such as 'camera acting', 'lighting in a digital age', 'color correction for creatives', 'DaVince Resolve', or 'Adobe After Effects' under the guidance of a specialized colleague. The unique location on the Herengracht also hosts international workshops with renowned guest directors. Teachers at the Amsterdam Film School include Rogier van der Ploeg (direction and dramaturgy), Hans Scheepmaker (fiction direction), Saskia Vredeveld (documentary direction), Bram van Splunteren (direction), Sytske Kok (screenplay and inspiration), Marc Schmidt (dramaturgy and screenplay), Astrid Bussink (inspiration), Steve Walker (fiction and shorts cinematography), René Heijnen (documentary cinematography), Ruurd Fenenga (cinematography), Maurits Guépin and Charlotte van der Veen (fiction editing), Patrick Schoneville (shorts editing), Erik Langhout and Ivar Trentelman (audio), Josje Bijl (visual effects), Else Marie Rombouts (fiction production), Manu Hartsuijker (documentary production), Gerben Molenaar (shorts production), and Keren Cogan (producing and inspiration). Jennifer van Balkom teaches the unique subject of 'success'. The management team consists of Amy Babtist and Bart Verdult. Film producer Emjay Rechsteiner has been appointed rector. He made 20 films at Staccato and worked as a curator at EYE for the past few years. Like the lecturers, Rechsteiner works part-time for the school and remains fully active in the film industry. The Amsterdam Film School trains students to make optimal use of their creativity and positively influence their success. The core programs 'Narrative Filmmaker' and 'Digital Filmmaker' each last 6 months, during which all subjects can also be taken as individual modules. In the basic training, the emphasis is on filmmaking and building a portfolio from day one. Through practical assignments, students learn to write a script, operate a camera, direct and edit a film, or create 3D animations. The unique 'inspiration' and 'success' lessons run through this like a common thread. The current first cohort of students ranges in age from 21 to 56 and is characterized, according to Rechsteiner, by tremendous drive. In addition to the basic course, the Amsterdam Film School also offers in-depth programs for more experienced filmmakers in the form of evening sessions and application training. Open day dates can be found on www.amsterdamfilmschool.com August 2014 …….
