'The Academy Color Encoding System (ACES) is currently undergoing industry-wide production trials by the major Hollywood studios.'
Attention all producers, production managers, directors, cinematographers, camera assistants, data handlers, editors, VFX artists, and color graders!
During the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht, the NBF, in collaboration with The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences from Los Angeles, presents an internationally oriented and unique seminar on the Academy Color Encoding System (ACES). This is a workflow architecture that is necessary for the new digital cinema cameras. At the seminar, which takes place on Tuesday, October 1 and is aimed at all film/TV professionals, prominent speaker Jim Houston (US) will use vivid examples to explain the importance and necessity of a shared workflow architecture for the international and Dutch sectors.
Jim Houston: principal of Starwatcher Digital, consults on digital production for motion pictures and television. He is chair of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences's Image Interchange Framework committee, a project of the Academy's Science and Technology Council, and is active in standards development for digital cinema, ACES/IIF, metadata, and future display systems.
What is ACES?
ACES is a standardized approach; it is a new way of handling color in the filming, creation, viewing, and processing of digital film files. ACES guarantees creators that the colors will always be the same, despite many different production methods. ACES is already being applied in leading film industries around the world, so this is the perfect opportunity for you as a Dutch professional to get acquainted with this workflow architecture.
Who is the seminar for?
This seminar is of interest to producers, production managers, and directors, as well as cinematographers, camera assistants, data handlers, editors, VFX artists, and color graders.
