Better sound for your projects!!!!!
Why do you need a sound designer for your film!
This is a Tiny eye opener for those who care about having a good sound.
Those who think that sound is a dialogue track and 2 music tracks that you lay in the editing stage, Better stop reading this NOW.
It's no secret that most of the new directors have a very minimal understanding
or sound and it's dramatic effect. Well, even some experienced directors don't have much sound experience, and that's why they leave it to a professional.
Sound is 50% of your tools and as powerful as image, if you know how to use it.
Neglecting sound until the last stage or thinking that having a great image and an Ok sound will do the job, will result in nothing but a poor project.
Sound gives credibility to the image, so we try to make sound as credible and as natural as possible, so the audience can engage 100 % in the film and believe what they are watching. And thats exactly why our role can be unnoticed by many. Simply because you are believing what you are hearing and you don't notice that there was so much work done in order for you to hear all the sound details.
A microphone will never pick all sound details, therefore a lot of SFX has to be added during the post production even though you might think that there are no SFX needed.
Silence is an element of the sound track and has as much dramatic effect as music and dialogue.
And unless you are in a dead room (google whats a dead room) or from the point of view of a deaf person, there is nothing called silence.
Not cause there is no dialogue or music it means there is no sound, it's actually the opposite, it means that you should be hearing more sound details than what you would normally hear.
If i go on about sound, i will be writing forever. Therefore i am more than well to share my experience with those who cares about having good sound for their projects.
I am not promoting myself as a sound designer but simply trying to offer advices and change your perception of sound. How to include the sound in your planning, before the shooting, and even during the writing stage. I studied cinematography and audio Engineering and i have a degree in both and years of experience and projects under my belt.
