Shaba Namdar

Editor Final Cut Pro / Video Technician / DVD Author

I have been involved in the film and television world since childhood. My parents made children's programs, which I was later able to participate in with great enthusiasm. Later I graduated from the interfaculty of 'Image and Sound' at the Hogeschool van Beeldende Kunsten, Muziek en Dans in The Hague. A few years ago I started the study 'Media and Culture' at the UVA, but unfortunately I had to stop the study due to illness. Film and television have always fascinated me. I worked at the EO (Evangelical Broadcasting) for eight years. There I gained a lot of experience in the field of video technology and video editing. Since the new media (eg the internet; social media) has started to play a bigger role in the television world, I also learned a lot about internet formats and conversion of digital media. I have always worked self-taught in this. In addition, in my position as a video engineer I have gained a lot of knowledge about various video and audio formats and the transfer/archiving/editing thereof for use for television programs and internet websites. The boundaries between film, television and the new media are also becoming increasingly blurred and the three are slowly (but surely) merging. In short, thorough knowledge of all three media areas is essential for someone who wants to work in this world. In that area, the EO has been a pioneer in Hilversum from the very beginning (eg, in non-linear editing on Apple systems and the integration of digital media). Still, my preference has always been for video editing, because I can put a lot of my creativity into it and because I think it's a nice profession. In the words of a master of the craft, Walter Murch, the editor of the classic 'The God Father': 'Editing is sculpting time and space.' I hereby offer my services for a part-time job of 16-21 hours a week. I choose to work part-time because I want to start my own company next to it.

Transgender Film Festival ticket sales gender neutral

The TranScreen Amsterdam Transgender Film Festival (May 8-12) is one of the largest film festivals in the world entirely dedicated to the themes of masculinity, femininity, and everything that lies between, beyond, and beneath them. For it becomes abundantly clear here that there are more types of people than just 'men' and 'women'. Ticket sales for TranScreen have now started; gender is not requested. The question 'are you a man or a woman?' is heard often. Even when purchasing cinema tickets. TranScreen deliberately ensures that festival-goers cannot book online. After all, almost all online ticketing systems in the Netherlands first ask what gender someone is before they are allowed to take a seat in the plush seats. At TranScreen, ticket sales are entirely gender-neutral, via telephone, email, or at the box office. The toilets in the Ketelhuis and Filmhuis Cavia have also been adapted for the occasion. No male/female signs on the doors, but gender-neutral toilets. The film festival screens over 80 short and feature fiction films and documentaries that throw all stereotypes overboard. -Like One Zero One (Tim Lienhard, 2012), about two drag queens who both utilize and exploit their physical disabilities in their performances. -The Dutch premiere of 'Our Future' is co-presented by CinemAsia and tells the story of Yu, who suffers under the girls' school uniform and the physical changes of puberty. -In the dizzying Iranian road film Facing Mirrors (Negar Azerbayjani, 2011), a friendship blossoms between a taxi driver and a transgender protagonist who is on the run from family. -The screening of the extra-long explicit porn film 'Sexing the Transman' (Buck Angel, 2012) promises to be exciting, as you receive both a free glove and a free condom with the purchase of a film ticket. -There is a 'surprise shorts' compilation program, and the audience awards will be presented on the last day of the festival. Tickets for the opening on May 8 and for the awards ceremony on May 12 are selling particularly fast. During the film festival, a further emphasis is placed on the workshops "Transgender in the Dutch Media Landscape" (essential for the press) and "Community Filmmaking". These workshops are free and open to the public at the OBA, where the TranScreen exhibition is also taking place until the end of July. For registration, reservations and more: http://www.transcreen.nl May 8-12 in The Boiler House and Filmhuis Cavia Amsterdam.
