The thing is, I am convinced that I learn much more in practice. Taking Dutch, English, and Mathematics classes five days a week, alongside the occasional studio project, which doesn't even come close to what you learn at internships, really gives me the feeling that I am standing still or making progress far too slowly at the age of twenty-seven! I have been involved with music and visual arts since my youth. I have experience in various sound studios as an intern. Personally, I am a bassist, guitarist, and percussionist, and I have worked in sound for Candeda (Amstelveen), among others. Together with my wife, who plays the cello, I want to create background music for various productions. In addition to this, I also did the lighting in Doornroosje Nijmegen, among others.

Op maandag 25 februari vindt de maandelijkse NBF netwerkborrel plaats met deze keer het thema 'Animatie onder de loep'. Animatie wint steeds meer aan terrein. Niet alleen als op zichzelf staande kunstvorm, maar ook in vele andere genres als documentaire en commercials is geanimeerd beeld steeds vaker terug te vinden. Op deze avond gaan we met vooraanstaande personen uit de animatiewereld in gesprek over de opkomst van animatie en de plaats die de kunstvorm inneemt in het hedendaagse film- en tv-klimaat. Hiernaast zal er een speciale preview van het Holland Animation Film Festival (20-24 maart 2013) worden vertoond en zal er gezamenlijk worden gegeten voorafgaand aan het programma. Kom dus vooral langs en neem ook je collega's mee! Sprekers: Gerben Schermer (1959, Nederland) is directeur van het Holland Animation Film Festival (Utrecht), dat hij begon in 1985. Zijn passie voor de voortzetting van animatie als zelfstandige kunstvorm heeft geleid tot een indrukwekkende carrière in festivalselectie en programmering. Schermer vervulde functies als lid van de raad van bestuur voor Holland Animation Association, ASIFA, CARTOON, House of Shorts, en was een van de oprichters van het Nederlands Instituut voor Animatiefilm waarbij hij betrokken bleef tot 1996. Hij heeft gastprogramma's samengesteld voor tal van festivals over de hele wereld, en diende als jurylid bij gerenommeerde filmfestivals. Peter Lindhout bouwde de afgelopen 14 jaar als animator, regisseur en producent van animatie-en tv-series, korte films en 3D animaties naam op. Lindhout was gastdocent bij ateliers NIAF Tilburg en aan de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, Utrecht en docent aan de Ichthus Hogeschool te Rotterdam. Ook was hij tien jaar zelfstandig beeldend kunstenaar. Als producent en gastdocent heeft Lindhout veel filmplannen inhoudelijk beoordeeld. Hij was vijf jaar voorzitter van de Vereniging van Nederlandse Animatieproducenten (VNAP) en studeerde in 2011 af in het Informatierecht aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Op dit moment is hij werkzaam bij het Nederlands Filmfonds als Filmconsulent Animatie, waarbij hij ingediende animatiefilmplannen analyseert en beoordeelt. Hans Walther studeerde in 1981 af aan de Nederlandse Film & Televisie Academie. Als editor monteerde hij jarenlang talloze films en televisieseries. In 1990 ging hij amusementsprogramma's als 'De Uitdaging' en 'Taxi' regisseren, om daarna de overstap naar dramaproducties te maken: onder andere '12 Steden, 13 Ongelukken', 'Voor hete vuren' en de dagelijkse soap 'Onderweg naar morgen'. Sinds 2003 combineert hij zijn regie-ervaring met zijn passie voor animatie. Zo regisseerde hij jarenlang 'Cafe de Wereld' en van 2006-2011 de computeranimatie-serie 'Sprookjesboom', waarin extran uit verschillende sprookjes samen nieuwe avonturen beleven. In 2012 maakte hij de eerste Nederlandse lange computeranimatiefilm, getiteld 'Sprookjesboom de Film'. Hans Walther schreef het boek 'Geanimeerde Gesprekken', over animatiefilmers die in Nederland en soms ver daarbuiten werkzaam zijn (geweest). In zijn vrije tijd werkt hij aan een eigen handgetekende animatiefilm.
