Evelien van den Broek is a composer and performer. She studied Film & Television Studies at the University of Amsterdam and Music Technology at the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, where she graduated cum laude. She creates music for films, dance, theatre, sound walks, and performance installations. Evelien composed music for many documentaries, including .nijnoK (directed by Leo Wentink), which won a Golden Calf and various international awards, and LA Raeven (directed by Lisa Boerstra), a film about the controversial artist twins LA Raeven, screened at IDFA and on TV (Uur van de Wolf), among others. On May 5 and 12, there will be another intensive Chubbuck Acting Technique workshop in Amsterdam. The Chubbuck acting technique was developed by acting coach Ivana Chubbuck, one of Hollywood's most renowned acting coaches, who works with Brad Pitt, Jim Carrey, Charlize Theron, John Voight, and many other A-list actors. www.ivanachubbuck.com. The Chubbuck technique is based on Stanislavski's technique and underpinned by psychology and behavioral science. I am the only certified Chubbuck Technique coach in the Netherlands who has been personally trained by Ivana. www.romyirene.com. In addition to using Ivana's acting technique, I let my intuition guide me in my work with actors. I am very personal and find it extremely important to create an atmosphere of trust. That trust is necessary so that actors feel safe to overcome all their emotional, physical, and sexual barriers and thus grow—not only as actors but also as human beings. The workshop consists of two consecutive Sundays. I work in the same way as at the Chubbuck Studio in Los Angeles. Approximately two weeks before the start of the workshop, each actor receives a scene that he or she must prepare together with another participant. You have the choice to work with an English or Dutch scene (with or without translation). In addition to working during the workshop hours, you are expected to work individually on each scene and rehearse regularly with your scene partner. On Thursday, April 11, a debate regarding the abolition of the artists' scheme will be held in the House of Representatives. This debate is open to the public. Interest group ACT would like the public gallery to be filled with actors who thereby make it known that they disagree with the abolition of the artists' scheme. ACT represents the interests of all 'professional' actors in the Netherlands. Via a video message, board members Gonny Gaakeer and Rein Hoffman also strongly urge all members to attend.
