SCRIPT CONTEST 2008
The MeccaPANZA National Script Contest came to a festive end last month at the Netherlands Film Festival. >From 27 scripts, all based on this year\'s theme \'escape\', the winners were announced. Honerable mentions went to Olga Ponjee (Verboden Vruchten), Anja Mulaomerovic (Veilig Thuis) and Jochem de Vries (Missen). Third prize went to Mare Pit (Stilzwijgen) and the runner up was Robin Hemerik (Door Glas). But the winner was Michiel ten Horn for his inventive and absurdist comedy, Fore. Featuring a delusional forest ranger hounded by a pack of golf-fearing women this script had masterpiece written all over it! It will now go on to the Nisi Masa European round where three winners will be chosen. The prize being the actual production of the film. On behalf of MeccaPANZA ouur sincere thanks to all of the scriptwriters. The overall level was even higher than last year so we hope you to see you back for next year\'s contest. In any case, all the best with your further careers.

NISIMAZINE
The Nisimazine film journalism workshops are rapidly expanding to new festivals. At MeccaPANZA we\'re of course excited about the upcoming workshop at the IDFA in Amsterdam. But the most recent workshop was held at the Cinéma Verité Documentary Festival in Tehran, Iran. It\'s unique in the way that it was first time a Nisimazine workshop took place outside of Europe. The festival issues have been published online and can be downloaded at http://nisimasa.com/?q=taxonomy/term/6 Maartje Alders and Rebecca Wilson from the Netherlands were two of the writers on the team and they have also blogged about their about their experiences in Iran at www.nisitehran.blogspot.com
Finally, included with this mail is the latest regular issue of the Nisimazine. It\'s all about traditional animation this month and, amongst others, it includes an interview with Dutch animator Michael Dudok de Wit (Father and Daughter).
