Unique film week with Bram van Splunteren in France!

From August 25 to September 1, this filmmaker will be giving a film course at a beautiful location in the French Ardèche. The entire filmmaking process will be covered, but in a very practical format. The exact content will depend on the ideas and experience of the participants. In any case, you will have the chance to make a film (or short film) yourself, under the guidance of Bram van Splunteren, maker of documentaries about The Red Hot Chili Peppers, the autobiographical documentary Zijn of Azijn, and the television series Café de Liefde, among others. Cost: 595 euros (accommodation, meals, and the course included). Before the start of the course, we try to organize an introductory afternoon or evening in the Netherlands and arrange transportation. If you like to write and if you usually get your inspiration for a story from everyday reality, then this Summer Course Screenwriting Non-fiction is something for you. In this course you will learn how to draw up and develop a screenplay for a documentary according to certain working methods. In this course we go through phases in the writing process of a screenplay for a documentary; finding a useful idea and an interesting angle. The dramatic principles that make the story fascinating, finding main characters and working out a story structure and design. Attention is also paid to visual writing: the reader of the screenplay must be able to see the documentary in front of him. In addition, the special position of the screenwriter is discussed. A screenwriter works closely with the producer/client and/or director.

Camera training

If you are visually oriented and want to learn how to work professionally with the camera, the Vocational Training Camera is for you. You learn to tell a story with the camera by making skilful use of design and technique. A cameraman/woman is ultimately responsible for the image in a media production. Within the course, the content of images, visual language and storytelling with the camera is central. From a theoretical framework, which is broadened and deepened during the course, camera technique, camera and program styles and recording procedures are discussed. You learn to articulate style and vision with regard to recording and ultimately translate it into visual language. In addition, attention is paid to functioning as a self-directing cameraman and working under direction.
