Within this vocational training you learn to tell a visual story in a creative way and with dramaturgical insight. A director has final artistic responsibility for a media production. Directing is not so much capturing reality as shaping your view and vision of that reality. This vocational training responds to the talent and creativity of the individual student, so that individuality as a film and television maker can be discovered and developed. A director must be able to convey his/her passion to others: producer, crew & cast, audience. What are the duties of a director? Which technique do you use? During this training, theoretical blocks and practical and technical exercises are used to discuss the basic skills that are necessary to be able to exercise directing as a professional.

OPEN STUDIO: Scenario vocational training

In this Vocational Training you will learn the basics of writing for audiovisual productions. A screenwriter comes up with a concept for a story and then develops it into a screenplay, a visual story. This vocational training teaches you the necessary skills for developing scenarios for drama, documentary and commissioned film. A screenwriter creates a story out of nothing. Curiosity, creativity and inventiveness are necessary for this, but also skill to translate this into a film plan. The learning of that skill occurs in 4 blocks, based on fragments, theory and program forms. In this training, the participants come up with and search for an idea for a short documentary, a short feature film and a commissioned film.

OPEN STUDIO: professional camera training

If you are visually oriented and want to learn how to work professionally with the camera, the Vocational Training Camera is for you. You learn to tell a story with the camera by making skilful use of design and technique. A cameraman/woman is ultimately responsible for the image in a media production. Within the course, the content of images, visual language and storytelling with the camera is central. From a theoretical framework, which is broadened and deepened during the course, camera technique, camera and program styles and recording procedures are discussed. You learn to articulate style and vision with regard to recording and ultimately translate it into visual language. In addition, attention is paid to functioning as a self-directing cameraman and working under direction.

'My Father is a Detective' awarded in Italy!

The family film 'My Father Is a Detective! - The Mysterious Fort Island' has been awarded the 'Best Film' prize by the youth jury of the Vittorio Veneto Film Festival. The film, which previously won the 'Moviesquad Junior Award' at the Netherlands Film Festival, is the first installment in the exciting and funny film series 'My Father Is a Detective', in which friends Sam, Sterre, and Ortwin solve cases with Sam's father, Max. As a result, they find themselves in a new adventure time and again. Throughout the series, the kids grow into self-aware teenagers, and Max becomes increasingly adept at single fatherhood. Even his ex-wife is starting to appreciate him more and more, although she continues to find Max's work dangerous. Three films have now been produced, all directed by Will Wissink and written by Zebi Damen. The first two installments are currently available on DVD. The third feature film, titled 'De Competitie', is currently in production. The film is set against the backdrop of a Pop Talent TV Show and has the motto: 'How far will you go to win?' The first part will soon be broadcast on television by the TROS on Father's Day at 9:00 AM.
