NBF networking drink 27 Feb: alternative financing

Join SMART Project Space/LAB111 on Monday, February 27, for the monthly Network Drinks for Film and TV (NBF) to network, enjoy drinks, and, of course, see the program. This month, the theme is 'Alternative Financing: Status Update,' where we will examine, from the perspective of makers, how things have turned out for those who have attempted to secure funding through unconventional means. Program In 2010, the announced budget cuts made it clear that filmmakers urgently needed to look for alternative financing methods to get projects off the ground. During the IDFA theme day on alternative forms of financing organized by the NBF in response, various methods were discussed, including crowdfunding and collaboration with commercial organizations. A year and a half later, we are taking stock at this networking event. Based on the experiences of makers of projects that have utilized non-traditional funding, we will examine how successful projects came to fruition and why less successful plans failed to achieve their intended success. In this way, we aim to discover which tactics and strategies work and which are better left untouched. The projects covered are (the list is still being updated; the remaining projects will be included on the NBF website and in the reminder email): Women of Waalo - Documentary animation film. A woman wants to become the new president of Senegal. Who is she? What drives her? An old story of ultimate resistance from her great-grandmothers is a great source of strength for her to take on this battle. The project raised the maximum amount via Cinecrowd within two weeks and currently stands at over €6,000 on the international platform IndieGoGo. One of the initiators, Machteld Aardse, will explain how they achieved this and what other funding strategies were applied. Motivated girl is looking for work in film / TV production!

Hello, I am Jennifer Schenk, I am 24 years old, and I completed my degree in Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam. I had always wanted to work in television or advertising, which is why I chose this program, as it offered many different career paths. When I finished this program, I realized how difficult it was to find enjoyable work. Because I was also still very young, I decided to first pursue a two-year sports training program at NHB Deurne. Now that I have finished that education, I am certain that a job in film or television production is really what I would like to do for the rest of my life. I have attended many different shoots in the past, because I have always found it very interesting how a production is made and how the final product is actually broadcast on television. A job in production really appeals to me because no day is the same, your tasks are very diverse, and you don't sit behind a desk all day. Last year, I worked on the production of a short film for the film festival. During this time, I gained extensive experience in all aspects of the production process, including devising the script, scouting locations, liaising with suppliers and extras, creating call sheets, arranging catering, and actually helping out on set. I am highly motivated, perform well both in a team and independently, do not have a 9-to-5 mentality, and hold a B driver's license. I am very precise and patient and always give it my all. I can also perform well under heavy time pressure and can adapt well to unexpected situations or events. I would really like to hear from you if you have a suitable job for me! Kind regards, Jennifer Schenk

Help students to a villa!!

We are a group of enthusiastic students at the AKV st. Joost in Breda. We are currently working on our final exam film. We are busy looking for a gutter house with a sleek design. Where we want to shoot part of the film. The turning period is 4 days in the 2nd week of May. It will be a film with an experimental premise. Subject: A family experiencing a day when the regular family patterns are disrupted by the celebration of a birthday. Continuum: The film is shot in a family home in a modern villa and a black studio. The family consists of 4 family members plus an old dog. This family makes a day in which the son's birthday will be celebrated in the evening. The birthday should be organized as perfectly as possible. Every member of it family contributes in its own way to the progress of the day. Throughout the day we see that the dynamics in the family in a stubborn way way turns to a wry and impersonal celebration of the birthday in which the members of the family fail to give real love to each other. The film is full of visual challenges for the crew but also for the viewer. The family members will be followed individually in the house and in the studio I want to show the overall picture of the family through a top shot of the reconstructed floor. Think of it as a large guinea pig maze that the family members move around in. Do you have the perfect home for us. Or do you know someone with a suitable house who would like this, please feel free to contact us. [email protected] tel 06-50458248
