NBF network drink 28 Nov: Film online: royalty-free?

The Film and TV Network Drinks (NBF) has been revamped! In addition to the well-known formula of networking, drinks, and the dinner deal, a panel discussion on a current theme will also be held. On the evening of Monday, November 28, the theme 'Film online: royalty-free or not?' will take center stage. Program At the previous edition of the NBF networking drinks, the panelists extensively discussed the internet as an essential platform for visual material. The internet indeed offers creators unlimited possibilities, provided they are creative enough and know how to seize opportunities. However, there is another side to this 'walhalla' that professionals have to deal with: the rights and risks associated with visual material posted online. How are copyrights regulated on the internet, is it possible to protect them, and is this even desirable? At this NBF networking drinks, this topical issue will be discussed with the panelists, and a short presentation will be given on the many possibilities the internet offers and how you, as a film or TV maker, can take advantage of them, including practical tips and tricks. Panel members: Wendy Bernfeld - Rights Stuff (more information) Jetse Sprey - VWS Lawyers (more information) This list is still being updated, so keep an eye on www.nbf.nl! Dinner deal The LAB111 restaurant is offering an attractive and affordable dinner deal especially for the NBF networking drinks: for €17.50, you get dinner including a drink. You can register for the dinner deal at the NBF office via [email protected] or 020-6646588, no later than Friday, November 26. Dinner will be served in the restaurant at 19:00. Film composer nino rota in film house the hague

To mark the hundredth birthday of Italian film composer Nino Rota, Filmhuis Den Haag is organizing a program of films for which Rota wrote the music, which can be seen in 17 cinemas nationwide. Virtually everyone recognizes Nino Rota's work upon hearing it: the instantly recognizable Love Theme from The Godfather (Francis Ford Coppola) and that of Romeo and Juliet (Franco Zeffirelli), for example, or the unparalleled music from the Fellini films La Strada, La Dolce Vita, and Il Casanova. In addition, Rota composed for directors such as Luchino Visconti (Rocco ei suoi fratelli, Il Gattopardo) and René Clément (Plein Soleil). His work is of impeccable musical quality; these are autonomous compositions that hold their own without the accompanying film images. One could even argue that without Rota's contribution, the films for which he wrote the music would have become less great masterpieces. For more information, see: www.filmhuisdenhaag.nl The Nino Rota program can be seen in: Film House The Hague November 17 to December 11, 2011 (The Godfather can be seen from November 10) Chassé Cinema, Breda January 8 to 29, 2012 Concordia Cinema, Enschede December 11, 2011 to January 31, 2012 Film Barn Haarlem December 5, 2011 to February 20, 2012 Focus Filmtheater, Arnhem December 1, 2011 to January 26, 2012 ForumImages, Groningen December 12, 2011 to January 3, 2012 Film Theater Hilversum January 3 to February 14, 2012 Filmtheater 't Hoogt, Utrecht December 16, 2011 to January 8, 2012 Filmhouse De Keizer, Deventer December 5, 2011 to February 24, 2012 The Boiler House, Amsterdam January 12 to 25, 2012 LantarenVenster, Rotterdam November 20, 2011 to January 22, 2012 The Blessed Virgin, Amersfoort December 6, 2011 to February 21, 2011 Lumière Cinema, Maastricht January 2 to February 27, 2012 Lux, Nijmegen December 6, 2011 to January 24, 2012 Plaza Futura, Eindhoven December 28, 2011 to January 13, 2012 Verkade Factory, 's-Hertogenbosch January 11 to February 1, 2012 Check the programs/websites of the various film theaters for more information.
