CineGrid Day Experience the 4K future On September 9, 2011, the Netherlands hosts a European premiere: CineGrid Day, where all aspects of 4K are covered. See what is already possible, look into the future, and experience 4K in 3D. During the CineGrid Day, filmmakers, producers, artists, and researchers will have their say. The afternoon begins with a look at the state-of-the-art possibilities of (distributed) production, editing, transmission, and screening in super quality. This is followed by a presentation of various case studies, including documentary, 3D, and animation. Finally, we look ahead to the broad application for creation, recording, post-production, cinema, and education. Speakers include Philippe Vié (Cam-a-lot), David Linssen (DutchView), Lieven Bertels (Holland Festival), Harry Schreurs (Netherlands Film and Television Academy), Cees de Laat (University of Amsterdam), Marleen Stikker (Waag Society), and Laurin Herr (CineGrid.org). Shoot Me Film & Music Festival (October 7-16, The Hague) is organizing three competitions this year: Africa, WOW!, Dutch Music Video Competition, and The Hague Film Competition. The selected entries will be screened during the festival. The Africa, WOW! competition is an international competition for feature films and short films about Africa. The Dutch Music Video Competition is the first Dutch competition focused purely on the music video. During the Dutch Music Video Competition Night, the audience itself selects the best national and international music video. The awards ceremony is preceded by the unique experience of 3D music videos in collaboration with Pitchfork.tv, an online platform for independent music, music videos, and documentaries based in Brooklyn. To encourage local talent, Shoot Me is launching The Hague Film Competition this year. The winner will be honored with the Gouwuh Règâh.
