The Basic Training is also literally the basis of all training and courses at Open Studio. The Basic Training is based on the principle that you should know at least something about all disciplines before you specialize in one or more disciplines. You will become acquainted with all the important parts of the profession and will also learn about the interdependence between production, directing, scenario, camera, light, sound, stage direction, interview technique and editing. In addition, attention is paid to the importance of cooperation and teamwork.

Scenario masterclass led by Chiem van Houweninge

During the thirteenth edition of Film by the Sea, a Masterclass in Screenwriting will take place from Monday 12 to Friday 16 September, led by Dutch screenwriter and actor Chiem van Houweninge. Unlike in previous years, this time you can choose from two assignments that serve as a source of inspiration for the short film. A professional jury assesses these scenarios. There is room for twelve screenwriters. The masterclass will consist of daily meetings and (guest) lectures, joint brainstorming sessions, analysis of the scenarios and of course a lot of writing. The first meeting is together with director Frans Weisz! Participants receive a passe-partout for the festival and can participate for free in the Film and Literature College on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September. To participate, you must submit a short story (max. 20 pages) and a short motivation before 1 September. This short story serves as the basis for writing the screenplay for a short film. Cinema 4D Basics - August 25, 2011

Cinema 4D is a professional 3D animation program and suitable for both beginners and advanced users from all kinds of different fields. For example, the software is used to visualize architectural designs, to prototype products and to create motion graphics in, for example, the broadcast industry. During the five-day Maxon Cinema 4D - Basics course, you will learn the basics of the software, with which a novice Cinema 4D user can further develop his skills. Participants can then sharpen their skills with the various follow-up courses, each with its own specialization: Motion Graphics, Architecture or Texture Mapping with Bodypaint. The training is given by a trainer officially certified by Maxon. The teaching material consists of a reader compiled by the trainer. In addition to the lessons, the independent completion of assignments is also part of the training. Time is reserved for this at the end of the teaching days. Every day, participants have the opportunity, under the supervision of the trainer, to work independently on assignments from 15:30 to 17:30.
