Tom Trago makes film music TRANSHUMAN

Electronic artist Tom Trago is venturing into new territory. Shortly after the release of his second solo album, Iris, he is already back with a new project: film music for the graduation film TRANSHUMAN from the Netherlands Film and Television Academy. The film will premiere at the end of June. For Tom and the filmmakers, it is a unique opportunity to collaborate. For all fans, this is a project to look forward to. Tom Trago experienced this project as a welcome change: 'In TRANSHUMAN, director Titus Nachbauer wants to look beyond tomorrow and beyond the borders of our country. It is about the future of humanity and technology, and that subject fascinates me enormously. In my music, I also try to explore the future. That is why I thought the combination with my music was cool. I had been looking for the challenge of making film music for quite some time. Music that works with the visuals instead of having to do everything alone. It feels really nice to take a subordinate position as a producer for a change and create a collaborative product.' The first contact with Tom Trago was made via the internet. Sound designer Casper van Deuveren saw a tweet from Tom in which he indicated he wanted to compose film music. He immediately saw an opportunity and replied right away. Composer Guus van Beelen was also keen on the collaboration: 'Tom's music forms a beautiful contrast with the music I have composed. Tom has used surprising timbres, making the film more exciting and impressive.' TRANSHUMAN premieres on June 26 at the Nieuwe DeLaMar Theater and will subsequently be screened at the Keep an Eye Film Academy Festival, which takes place from June 27 to July 1 at the Film Academy in Amsterdam. In September, the film will also be shown at the Netherlands Film Festival.

Tuvalu Media and Waterland Film join forces

Television producer Tuvalu Media and film producer Waterland Film are going to work together. The first project of this collaboration is already there: the 10-part youth drama series 'De Vier van Westwijk' by screenwriter Manon Spierenburg and director Barbara Bredero for AVRO television on youth channel Zapp, now in preparation for broadcast in 2012. There are many other plans in stack. This was announced today by the boards of both companies. The bundling combines Tuvalu's expertise in the field of entertainment and infotainment for television with the success of Waterland Film in the field of feature film and television drama. Taco Zimmerman of Tuvalu Media: 'Producing films and drama series has been in our thinking since the company was founded. We see that dream come true through the collaboration with a renowned party such as Waterland Film. We are very excited and confident to continue existing productions and get new creations off the ground together with our new Waterland colleagues.' Jan van der Zanden of Waterland Film: 'The collaboration with Tuvalu is an important expansion of our network for us. The joining of forces stimulates both parties. We get in touch with new makers and we get more scope. For Waterland, this is an attractive prospect and a valuable impulse for our film and drama productions. The important thing about this collaboration is that we will continue to make what we are good at, which includes artistic films and special youth films.' With the collaboration, both companies strengthen their position in the Netherlands, but also internationally. The collaboration is in line with Tuvalu Media's ambition to also spread its wings in the field of television drama and Waterland's plans to carry out more and larger international feature film productions. Recent productions from Tuvalu Media are 'Queen and I', 'Who is my father' and 'Ali B' at full speed. Waterland Film is the producer of films such as 'Nachtrit', 'Shocking Blue' and 'Rundskop' and the drama series 'The secrets of Barslet'.

The directors will edit the films at home (DV tapes). I will have the films put onto a single DVD, and they will be screened on Sunday, June 19, at the Louis Hartlooper Complex in Utrecht for the students, parents, and sponsors (and guest lecturers and supervisors, of course!). End of Film course... End of the school year! People who have participated before: Iris Hesseling, Jean van de Velde, Mimoun Aoissa, Lucien van Geffen, Christopher Parren, Ivette Halkes, Erik de Jager, Tamara Brinkman, Leo Wentink. IMC Weekendschool has been in existence for 13 years and has 9 branches in the Netherlands. For three years, children from disadvantaged neighborhoods voluntarily attend school on Sundays, where they receive lessons from professionals on various professions (medicine, law, journalism, architecture, theater, politics, entrepreneurship, visual arts, etc.). This allows them to learn where their talents and qualities lie, what they can become, broaden their horizons, and boost their self-confidence. IMC Weekendschool is sponsored and can only exist thanks to the dedication of volunteers—people who passionately share knowledge and experience through assignments and practical examples (for instance: the subject of law is taught at school for three Sundays by lawyers, judges, prosecutors, and court clerks, and on the fourth Sunday, the class goes on an excursion to the courthouse where they handle a prepared case while wearing robes!). Also Google imcweekendschool and imcweekendschoolutrecht Get inspired and help the students become a top-notch subject!!! It also looks good on your CV on LinkedIn, Facebook, volunteer work...
