Bas Bijleveld

All-round handyman / production assistant / decor builder.

A side of me that not everyone knows is that I am versatile and can be used for all kinds of odd jobs. I am not a certified plumber or electrician, but my father was, and he has taught me a tremendous amount over the years. Side by side with him, I have helped many family members and friends with all kinds of jobs after moving house, installed a complete central heating system in a 150-year-old building, insulated a large attic in that same building, done painting, demolition work, torn down and built walls, completely repaved gardens, and much more. I have a nice set of tools myself, see photo below. Admittedly, I don't have a car, but this entire set travels with great ease on the train or bus and can travel anywhere in the Netherlands without any problem. Throughout my career, I have repeatedly carried out extensive maintenance on monumental buildings; six months at the Rembrandt Cinema in Utrecht and over a year at the Geldmuseum are the most prominent examples. Another fine example is a building in Leiderdorp that was vacant at the time, where I was given the opportunity to shoot a film: three floors, neglected for three decades. In just one week, I single-handedly stripped the walls, floors, and ceilings, and completely redecorated and painted them for the filming days. It remains a shame that the shoot ultimately did not go ahead because the lead actress informed me via text message at 1 a.m. before the first day of filming that she was withdrawing, but I can certainly say that I did it and would be capable of handling a similar assignment today. I have done quite a bit of work, particularly in the TV/Film sector, such as building and dismantling TV sets for major productions like *Weekend Miljonairs*. I have also done a lot of production assistance; for those unfamiliar with this term, it essentially means doing whatever is needed at the moment, including odd jobs. The fact that I always carry a fully equipped toolbox with me has saved many productions a lot of time and frustration. What I offer here are my services as a handyman in many respects, excluding specialized work. Even if it involves a job requiring ten men, I can arrange them; I have a very broad network of strong, handy guys I can call upon immediately. Regarding TV/Film production support, I can be of great help, including in the areas of camerawork, editing, lighting, sound, and more, but I will write a separate text about that. Another area where I can do a lot is completely clearing and stripping a large space or an entire building in a short time. The same applies to a large garden, for example. I am also capable of a great deal in the field of odd jobs, with the caveat that my knowledge and experience are general. Naturally, I invoice through my sole proprietorship, which is properly registered with the Chamber of Commerce and holds a VAT number. If you have a job in mind, you can contact me by emailing [email protected], and I will see if I can handle the job or parts of it.
