Film over Club RoXY in Rialto

One Fire Ignites Another Stacey Lee, Clare van den Berg | Netherlands | 2011 | 52' | spoke Dutch The film One Fire Ignites Another tells of the rise and fall of the legendary Amsterdam Club RoXY. On Saturday 14 May, this documentary will be screened exclusively in Rialto, Amsterdam. One Fire Ignites Another brings together impressive archive footage from construction to fire with exclusive conversations with key extras such as co-founders DJ Eddy de Clerq and Arjen Schrama, DJs Joost van Bellen and DJ Isis and widow of Peter Giele, Inez de Jong. Club RoXY was an initiative in 1987 by the triumvirate Arjen Schrama, known from Vinyl magazine, DJ Eddy de Clercq and artist Peter Giele. The RoXY grew into one of the most talked-about stages in the world. The club profiled itself in all kinds of areas such as dance, art and erotic shows and was a creative hotbed of the first order. For many in the music scene, this was the first step to success. In 1999 the club came to a sudden end when Peter Giele passed away and Club RoXY completely burned down. One Fire Ignites Another, the life motto of founder Peter Giele, is an intimate portrait of a generation in search of extremes, creativity and a new sense of life - it was the time when the new, by many not accepted house music emerged, XTC for a new intoxication caused and AIDS reared its head. How did the RoXY get off the ground, what were the dreams of those involved, and how did it ultimately end? New Zealand directors Stacey Lee and Clare van den Berg portray the rise and fall of the club in an intimate way in One Fire Ignites Another; for those who missed it it appeals to the imagination, for those who were there it is a poignant trip down memory lane. Director Stacey Lee and producer Eline Bakker will be present at this one-off screening and will be interviewed after the film. One Fire Iginites Another was made possible through the support and dedication of the RoXY family and everyone who cares about the film, and the club. http://www.rialtofilm.nl/podium/One%20Fire%20Ignites%20Another/
