Op vrijdag 18 maart 2011 organiseren de NBF en het Go Short Film Festival een Industry Day voor professionals. In de ochtend zal er een interessante NBF lezing plaatsvinden over de rechten en risico's van het online plaatsen van film. Hierna zal er een uitgebreide lunch worden geserveerd aan de aanwezigen, waarna er 's middags een levendige paneldiscussie zal worden gehouden over wat succes van online film betekent en welke verdienmodellen toegepast kunnen worden om je film financieel van de grond te krijgen. De dag is gratis voor NBF-leden en geaccrediteerden van het festival, anderen betalen €15,- (inclusief lunch). Hieronder vind je meer informatie over het programma, de locatie en aanmelding. Programma: 09:30 Festivallounge open 10:00-12:00: NBF lezing - Online film: de rechten en risico's Tegenwoordig worden om de haverklap films op internet geplaatst. Het is zo'n gemeengoed geworden door YouTube, Vimeo en soortgelijke sites dat je vrijwel alle het beeldmateriaal wel online kunt vinden, van complete speelfilms uit de jaren '50 van de vorige eeuw als een korrelig filmpje van het verjaardagsfeest van je buurman. Hierbij wordt echter nagenoeg nooit stilgestaan bij de rechten die aan het plaatsen verbonden zijn en de risico's die het met zich meebrengt. In deze lezing zal de vraag centraal staan of je wel zomaar alles op internet mag plaatsen, welke specifieke rechten hierbij komen kijken en of en hoe deze contractueel te beschermen/vast te leggen zijn. Wat zijn de risico's van plaatsing op internet? En ook de vraag aan bod of het wel wenselijk is om deze rechten vast te leggen komt aan bod. Als eerste spreker zal Remco Klïters (Van Kaam Advocaten) het juridische kader scheppen van het de rechten die komen kijken bij het plaatsen van audiovisueel materiaal op het internet, waarna hij door middel van voorbeelden van cases de consequenties ervan met de aanwezigen zal delen. Ook zal hij een handige checklist presenteren, die gebruikt kan worden voor het maken van afspraken op dit gebied. Emjay Rechsteiner (EYE Film Instituut) zal vervolgens uiteenzetten welke mogelijkheden EYE heeft om films online te brengen. Zo is EYE samen met de NVS en Beeld & Geluid initiatiefnemer van Filmotech: een project met als doel om het gehele Nederlandse filmaanbod direct toegankelijk te maken voor de consument. Via Filmotech zullen Nederlandse consumenten in hoge kwaliteit Nederlandse speelfilms, documentaires en TV-drama kunnen bekijken op het apparaat van hun keuze (TV, PC, iPod of mobiele telefoon) en op het moment waarop zij daar behoefte aan hebben. Filmotech heeft voor het opzetten van dit project met alle auteursrechtelijke organisaties die ertoe doen rond de tafel gezeten en deze op één lijn gekregen. Ook op Europees niveau is er veel aandacht voor dit Nederlandse initiatief. 13:00-14:30 Industry lunch Wethouder Henk Beerten (Cultuur Gemeente Nijmegen) heet de gasten van het festival welkom. 15:30- 16:30 Debat: Online for a living on short en presentatie CineCrowd (Engelstalig) In de middag zal een levendig debat worden gehouden over de vragen wat online succes is en hoe zicht dit vertaalt. SUBMIT YOUR FILM for BUTFF 2011! ABOUT THE FESTIVAL In 2011, the annual But Film Festival will take place from September 7 to 11 in the center of Breda. This year's festival theme is: Beyond Reality (subtitle: special effects). The BUT Film Festival distinguishes itself from other film festivals by screening films that deviate from mainstream cinema through their form, taste, and content. BUT stands for B-films, Underground, and Trash. 'B-films' are films made on a small budget that do not fall under a major production studio. 'Underground films' are films that push the boundaries of what is acceptable. They often contain explicit imagery. 'Trash films' are over-the-top films in terms of content and visuals. For lovers of the experimental, curious, bizarre, and absurd, a particularly varied program is put together every year. In addition to films, performances, art, education (BUT workshops), and a symposium are also a permanent part of the BUT Film Festival. RETROSPECTIVES During the festival, a retrospective of a specific director is also screened. In 2009, John Waters was invited as the main guest. At earlier editions of the festival, David Cronenberg and Cyrus Frisch, among others, were invited, and the work of German filmmaker Wenzel Storch took center stage. In 2010, underground film legend Jïrg Buttgereit was present at the BUT, and a series of his old and new work was shown.
