Producer Lemming Film starts commercial film label

In addition to high-quality youth productions, the producers of Lemming Film will also focus on producing mainstream films for a mature target audience. The first feature film to be released under the commercial label is THE PRESIDENT, a comedy by director Erik de Bruyn starring Najib Amhali and Achmed Akkabi. The film is currently in post-production and will be released in Dutch cinemas by distributor A-Film in September 2011. Creative Director Leontine Petit of Lemming Film: 'It is a logical development to start producing more films for adults. In recent years, we have expanded with three permanent producers. This allows us to develop more film projects and has increased diversity. In addition, the directors and screenwriters we regularly work with indicate that they want to make other films besides family films.' In its 15-year existence, Lemming Film has become a specialist in producing feature films and drama series for children and families, where commercial viability and quality always go hand in hand. Well-known titles include: DUNYA & DESIE, KIKKERDRIL, IEP!, BRIEFGEHEIM, and MIJN OPA DE BANKROVER. Lemming's last seven feature films all achieved Golden Film status, have been awarded at various international film festivals worldwide, and sold to dozens of countries. Many children have since grown up with Lemming Film's films. Previously, Lemming Film produced the commercial feature film HET SCHNITZELPARADIJS (directed by Martin Koolhoven), the Dutch box office hit of 2005. Leontine Petit: 'Dutch commercial film is experiencing golden times, and we see it as a challenge to translate our quality standards into films for a broad audience. We believe that commercial films can mean more to the public than just entertainment.' New titles for Lemming Film's commercial film label will be announced soon.
