Shadow Festival revives with old films

Last year the Shadow Festival was declared dead, but since then there has been a small revival in a squat. Mainly old, well-known films are being screened. The Shadow Festival was founded 10 years ago by film lecturer Stefan Majakowski out of dissatisfaction with the 'commercial' and large-scale IDFA. Following criticism of his policies and the unorthodox treatment of staff, funding was discontinued in 2009. (see article by former staff member: http://fedorsendak.wordpress.com/2009/12/17/in-memoriam-shadow-festival-1999-2009/ ) A new start The Shadow Festival is going ahead after all, without subsidies, in the Schijnheilig squat. The organization was hastily put together on an ad hoc basis; the first contact between Shadow and the Schijnheilig squat was established a week before the first film was screened, and five days before the start, the center was still threatened with eviction. Schijnheilig handled the entire organization for this edition; Stefan Majakowski was only involved in the programming. "Although the festival features films whose existence was already known, it did manage to put together a program in a week and have a screening room open for seven days where people can watch beautiful documentaries on the big screen with free admission," said one of the organizers. The films are introduced and there are long post-screening discussions, as we have come to expect from previous editions. ======= SHADOW FESTIVAL PROGRAMME Admission is always free. Script for film(Students,or real filmmaker(really good)

2 teenagers who do not know each other are taken captive by a psychopath, and wake up in a classroom with nothing but a table with a chessboard on it, 2 chairs, and a TV. They have to play chess against each other, but with every chess object that a Of the 2 teenagers, one loses, an innocent person is murdered who has been taken prisoner. and there is a time limit attached to it from 20:00 to 00:00. It quickly becomes clear that they are not unknown persons, for whom the Two teenagers are playing, but not their own beloved family and friends. And an outside police officer, who is friends with one of the victims, begins to realize that something is seriously wrong and thinks that the suspected criminal they are tracking at the station has something to do with it. A spectacle of action thriller and drama. What you need for this low-budget film: 2 teenagers playing chess. 1 man of about 30 to 40 years old who plays the psychopath a classroom, with an interactive whiteboard and/or TV. a chessboard, table, 2 chairs. A 32 people, 16 for each of the 2 teenagers. someone who wants to play the police officer. maybe for a few scenes, a police station where you are allowed to film briefly, No special effects are needed for the film. IT IS NOT A HORROR FILM, but an ACTION, THRILLER, and DRAMA FILM. And the film IS IN ENGLISH, SO NOT IN DUTCH This is not the complete summary, and the script is not included either. Because that way, people can't completely steal my idea. I wrote this to see who might be interested, and to see if I have some writing talent, and, if someone might want to use my story, to see if I also have some acting experience, by seeing if I could play the role of one of the two teenagers (not really important, but also, if it happened, to give the role of the other teenager to my stepbrother). The film is very suitable for low-budget audiences, students, and real filmmakers, If you want more info, send me a message.

Network Drinks for Film and TV (NBF) on Monday, November 29.

On Monday, November 29, the last Film and TV (NBF) Network Drinks of the year will take place at LAB111. The evening is intended for everyone working in the film and/or television sector, so be sure to come along this time (again) to meet new people from the industry or simply to enjoy a drink. For members, the first drink is on the house. At this networking event, NBF honorary member Ot Louw will launch the new website 'Filmwoordenboek'. After two printed versions (1987 and 1989) of the film dictionary Beeldspraak, a third version appeared on the internet in 2003. Unfortunately, this site did not function optimally, but the knowledge and time were lacking to actually make improvements. Last summer, managing editor Ot Louw and his son Erik decided to take action, resulting in a completely revamped website.
