Earthling (2010) wint BUT-award 2010

From September 8 to 12, the fifth edition of the BUT Film Festival took place in Breda. BUT is an acronym for the genres B-film, Underground, and Trash, and focuses on idiosyncratic cinema that deviates from the average film found in cinemas, video rental stores, and on the internet. The organizers look back on a successful festival with nearly double the number of visitors at the new location on St. Janstraat in Breda. BUT Awards winners On Saturday, September 11, the BUT Awards ceremony took place in the packed concert hall of Kunstencentrum de Nieuwe Veste. Prior to the ceremony, the first real BUT zombie film, Earman and the Revenge of the Zombie-Chick-Squad (2010), premiered. It is noteworthy that this film was made at the BUT Film Festival by filmmaker Thijs van Gasteren. The winner of the BUT Award for Best Short was: The Terrible Thing of Alpha-9 (2009) by Jake Armstrong (USA). This animated film is about a bounty hunter who travels to a lonely planet in space to kill a terrible monster. The shortlist of nominated features included: Earthling (2010) by Clay Liford (USA), The Diamonds of Metro Valley (2010) by Aaron Arendt (USA), and Mi (2009) by Cesar del Alamo (Spain). The jury considered originality and the way the story was told. With Earthling, Clay Liford succeeded in bringing together the various elements of B-film, Underground, and Trash in a highly sophisticated manner and won the 2010 BUT Award. The fantastic-looking award, a larger-than-life eye in a gold-colored base, was created by Cor Vermeulen of House of Wax (Breda horror museum). JVC HZ-CA13U PL mount adapter for JVC GY-HD2xx/HM700

JVC HZ-CA13U PL Mount adapter for JVC GY-HD200/201/250/251 and GY-HM700/790 INCLUDES Kinor 10-100mm PL zoom lens! With this unique adapter, you are able to attach professional (Super) 16mm PL mount film lenses to your 1/3" JVC camera. The adapter has a Field of View comparable to a 16mm film lens. The Depth of Field of a 16mm lens is therefore preserved and transferred to the camera's 1/3" image sensor via 11 optical elements. Unlike 35mm adapters from, for example, Letus and Redrock, the HZ-CA13U has no moving ground glass. Everything is solid state and of high quality. The adapter also features a back-focus ring. The adapter, which is in near-mint condition, is being sold including a Russian-made Kinor 10-100mm 16mm PL mount zoom lens. This lens has a soft image character and exhibits some 'vignetting'. As an effect, this can work well, as shown in a music video made by Tim Dashwood using the same type of lens in combination with the HZ-CA13U: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjNVQg01iyU If you really want to use top-quality lenses, I recommend renting a good zoom lens and/or a set of primes from a rental company. The film "Prooidieren" by Thijs Gloger (Schaftkip films, selected for the Netherlands Film Festival 2010) was shot entirely with this adapter, in combination with a Canon 8-64mm Super16 zoom lens and a JVC GY-HD201E camera. You can see this conextras in action in the attached photos. Watch the film's trailer at this link: http://www.vimeo.com/8513252 The asking price for this set (inc. the 10-100mm Kinor lens) is € 3,570.00 incl. VAT. Delivery with invoice. Currently, the same adapter is being offered new in the Netherlands for: € 5,151.51 incl. VAT, but without the Kinor lens!
