Around the Film by the Sea festival (September 10-19, Vlissingen), the 48 Hour in Vlissingen is being organized for the first time, renamed 48 Hour by the Sea for the occasion. It is a national competition in which filmmakers and their teams have exactly 48 hours to make a complete short film. It is a competition for both professionals and amateurs; filmmakers, advertising agencies, multimedia companies—anyone involved in film in a creative way is welcome. And it is the chance to make a film that will be screened in cinemas a week later during a film festival! 48 Hours in a nutshell: The 48 Hour Film Project is a concept that originated in America, in which filmmakers and their teams are given exactly 48 hours to create a complete short film of 4-7 minutes. Everything must happen within these 48 hours: scriptwriting, filming, editing, music, etc. Participants are given three fixed elements that they must use in their film: a line of dialogue, a prop, and a character. Additionally, each team is assigned a genre. Since its inception, 48 Hour has spread across the globe; nearly 80 cities worldwide are now participating. The participants are very diverse, from novice to very experienced filmmakers, amateurs and professionals. The shoot for 48 Hour by the Sea in Vlissingen will take place the weekend of September 3 to 5. The films will then be sent to a professional jury. The films will have their premiere here at the CineCity cinema on Sunday afternoon, September 12, during the Film by the Sea festival, followed by drinks and the awards ceremony.
