Trans/cross media master class 'From Story to Legend'

The film and television world is undergoing a radical transformation with the rise of transmedia. In Hollywood, the 'transmedia producer' has already been embraced as a professional and has received official accreditation from the PGA (Producers Guild of America). During this NBF/Dondersteen Media seminar on September 27, the various disciplines of transmedia/crossmedia will be reviewed and presented by the world's best experts. If you decide to work for multiple platforms, that also means new funding opportunities for your project. And building a new audience. With social media, you can better see what resonates with people. And what the chances of success are for your story. Better risk assessment and mitigation, increased output, and a larger audience: these can be the results of the smart application of transmedia techniques. In short, is it worthwhile to learn more about 'transmedia' and what that means for you as a creator, marketer, producer, or distributor? - Who else will you be dealing with? - What are the new revenue models? - What are new sources of funding? - How do you search for and find a new audience? How do you ensure they become paying customers for your entertainment product? How can you increase the 'production value' by using transmedia? On Monday, September 27, we will introduce you to the world of transmedia during 'From Story to Legend', where the best international speakers in the field of transmedia and crossmedia will show you how you can benefit from this as a professional. Pitches, case studies, the do's and don'ts. In one day, you will gain a clear understanding of why certain transmedia techniques do or do not work, and how to maximize your chances of success. Step in and learn what you need to join the movement that has already begun internationally and will now conquer the Netherlands as well! The following international experts will contribute to the day; click on the link after the name for more information: Christy Dena http://www.christydena.com/2010/06/the-end-of-a-chapter-my-sahara/ Liz Rosenthal http://www.powertothepixel.com/about Drew Davidson: http://waxebb.com/vita/ Werner Vogels: http://www.allthingsdistributed.com/ Monique de Haas: http://www.dondersteen.net/over.html And we are working on a few more very interesting 'surprises'. Open Call for Young Actors

Project title: Domestic violence and the fight against it Cultural Aid Foundation (SCA) from the Netherlands officially announces an open call for young actors from the Netherlands who would like to participate in a film workshop in Utrecht, from October 18 to 26, 2010. The informal workshop program is designed to compare different cultural perspectives of young people on a specific subject. Analyses will be conducted through detailed elaborations of various film genres, the reenactment of film scenes, and the explanation of the approach. Analyzing violent elements, viewed from both a cultural and an individual perspective, will open a broad discussion regarding emotional impact, possible different categories of people, and ethical and aesthetic issues concerning violence in film. Participants from various European countries will be guided by leading professionals from the film industry: Ms. Willeke van Ammelrooy, Ms. Mirjana Karanovic, and Ms. Sinolicka Trpkova. SCA encourages young actors from the Netherlands, aged between 20 and 25, to participate in this extraordinary project. Competition: Take the most beautiful photo

Every year, the Netherlands Film Festival organizes a special program segment together with the Guest of the Year. This year, actress Anneke Blok is in the spotlight as Guest of the Year. Anneke Blok's choice focuses on disciplines within film that are not immediately visible to the public: costume design and still photography. Anneke Blok's wish is to give these unknown, yet enormously important aspects a special place during the 30th Netherlands Film Festival. The Netherlands Film Festival is organizing a special retrospective exhibition in Galerie 10 during the festival, in collaboration with set photographer Jaap Vrenegoor. Vrenegoor has an impressive track record and took photos on the sets of the Dutch films MINOES, VET HARD, PHILEINE ZEGT SORRY, OORLOGSWINTER, and ZWARTBOEK, but he has also worked on international films with Paul Verhoeven, Naomi Watts, Burt Reynolds, Christian Slater, and Val Kilmer, among others. Photo contest Alongside the exhibition, the festival is launching a special competition for people working on film sets. Being on a set means: waiting, waiting, waiting. Waiting for a cloud to disappear before that one ray of sunshine that makes a scene look like the height of summer. Waiting for the camera to be moved and for the lens to be changed. Waiting for the wind machine and the right amount of leaves to illustrate the effect of a stormy relationship. What does waiting on a set look like to you? Capture those moments with your photo. Look at your colleague from a different perspective and capture that moment of indifferent waiting, a concentrated pause, or a relieved distraction. An old photo is, of course, also allowed. The special jury, consisting of Anneke Blok, Hans Kemna, Paula van der Oest, and Jaap Vrenegoor, will choose the winner. If you win, you will receive a Canon EOS 550D. This combines high-quality photography with the ability to capture Full HD (1080p) video footage! And your own photo will be beautifully enlarged. Please state the date/year the photo was taken and which film it depicts. Who is visible in the photo? Send your photo to [email protected] before September 1st with a 300 dpi extension. Do you only need a print? Then send your photo to: Nederlands Film Festival, Attn: Tineke Teerink, P.O. Box 1581, 3500 BN Utrecht Photo from ALLES IS LIEFDE by Jaap Vrenegoor
