In October and November, participants will develop a maximum of 24 new concepts for animated films under the guidance of expert masters. Each participant contributes 2 or 3 original, unique ideas for short animated films and develops these into just as many concepts over a few weeks. The developed concepts will be presented in a pitch to Dutch animation producers at the HAFF on Saturday, November 6. As part of KORT!'s 10th anniversary, the creators of the innovative project 'One Frame of fame' (clip by C'mon en Kypski) have made the ever-changing short film 'Now take a bow'. Anyone with a computer and a webcam can participate in this short film. In short, 'Now take a bow' is a self-portrait of the KORT! audience! The film is not finished yet. We therefore call upon everyone to participate in this short film. The film will be shown on the big screen tomorrow (Tuesday, September 28) at the Netherlands Film Festival. At this moment, more than 1,000 people have participated. Actors such as Frank Lammers, Maike Meijer, and Daniel Bouissevain are taking part. KORT! too. De laatste week van september wijdt digitaal documentairekanaal Holland Doc 24 aan Hollandse Nieuwe: jong, Nederlands documentairetalent. Tijdens deze themaweek worden zowel de genomineerde films van het Nederlands Online Film Festival (NOFF) als afstudeerfilms van verschillende kunstacademiestudenten uitgezonden. Daarnaast is op Holland Doc 24 in deze week een selectie te zien uit de documentaires die dit jaar op het Nederlands Film Festival worden vertoond. Holland Doc 24 werkt net als vorig jaar samen met het NOFF, dat onderdeel is van het Nederlands Film Festival dat van 22 september tot en met 1 oktober in Utrecht plaatsvindt. Het NOFF vertoont korte films - met een maximale lengte van 10 minuten - in onder meer de categorie documentaire. Iedereen kon zijn of haar korte film insturen; uit alle inzendingen is een selectie gemaakt die tijdens het festival wordt vertoond. Een vakjury van film- en internetprofessionals kiest uit deze selectie de winnaar van de Holland Doc 24 Documentaire Prijs, waaraan een geldbedrag is verbonden van 2.500 euro. Verder zal Holland Doc 24 een podium bieden aan nieuw talent door tijdens de themaweek tevens films van studenten en recentelijk afgestudeerden uit te zenden. Het werk van studenten van verschillende academies en filmopleidingen zal naast de NOFF-inzendingen gedurende de hele week worden vertoond op het digitale kanaal. Een greep uit de afstudeerfilms en de NFF-documentaires die in deze week worden uitgezonden: Afstudeerfilms De rechtbanktekenaar (Terence Roumimper, Willem de Kooning Academie, 2010) - Een portret van rechtbanktekenaar Felix Guérain, die bekende zaken tekende als die tegen Willem Holleeder en Lucia de Berk. Guérain doet gepassioneerd zijn bijzondere beroep uit de doeken en legt uit hoe hij langzaam maar zeker van zijn subjecten gaat houden. De documentaire sleepte tijdens het Fin! Festival in Rotterdam de 'excellente studentenfilmprijs' in de wacht. Mijn Inbreker & Ik (Kaweh Modiri, Gerrit Rietveld Academie, 2010) - Verslag van een klopjacht op de dief die inbrak in het huis van de filmmaker. Nadat hij op zijn teruggevonden laptop beelden van de inbreker aantreft, stelt Modiri alles in staat om de jongen te traceren en hoofdrolspeler van zijn film te maken. De inbreker zelf blijkt daar niet van gediend. Feit en fictie lopen in deze bijzondere documentaire continu door elkaar en in februari 2011 staat een gelijknamig boek gepland. · Altijd 19 (Stephane Kaas, Nederlandse film- en Televisie Academie, 2009) - Vanaf het moment dat de 23-jarige Wouter door een dak zakt en op zijn hoofd valt, vergeet hij alles wat er gebeurt. Iedere dag opnieuw leeft hij in de veronderstelling dat hij nog 19 is, dat hij nog een vriendinnetje heeft en dat hij een hele gewone jongen is die goed kan skaten. NFF-documentaires Baghdad Film School (Shuchen Tan, VPRO, 2010) - Een inkijk in het dagelijks leven van een groep studenten die proberen hun droom te realiseren: documentaire filmmaker worden. Door middel van de filmpjes die de jonge filmers voor hun opleiding maken zien we een ons onbekende kant van het leven in een land in chaos. We ervaren hoe het is om te leven en te werken onder de constante angst van bomaanslagen en ontvoeringen, maar zijn ook getuige van momenten van vreugde en plezier. Alles wat we wilden (Sarah Mathilde Domogala, VPRO, 2010) - De film volgt vier jonge, creatieve ambitieuze mensen die ogenschijnlijk een glanzend en gelukkig leven leiden. Gaandeweg wordt zichtbaar wat het van hen vergt om alle ballen in de lucht te houden. Overige NFF-documentaires die deze week worden uitgezonden: De zorgfabriek (HUMAN), en Winterslaap in Lukomir (HUMAN). De eindexamenfilm Winterslaap in Lukomir (regie: Niels van Koevorden) won onlangs de VPRO Documentaire Prijs. New DocBlog: Istanbul Express Follow young documentary filmmakers on their journey through Europe. A diverse, international group of 45 young filmmakers is traveling through Europe by train for three weeks, with Istanbul as their final destination. During the train journey, they will visit 23 cities and produce fifteen documentaries on the subject of: What does the multilingualism of the new generation of Europeans bring with it? New loves, cross-border conflicts, transnational careers? Over the coming weeks, the makers will be blogging about their experiences along the way on the DocBlog. The journey began on September 20 in three different locations: Tallinn, San Sebastian, and Turin. As the trains race towards Istanbul and cross various national borders, the different film crews are making documentaries at a rapid pace. Along the way, there are stops where workshops are on the program and filming also takes place. On September 28 and 29, the filmmakers will visit Amsterdam and film in the Bijlmer and in 'Chinatown' around the Nieuwmarkt. Dutch participant Bibi Bleekemolen has already blogged the following about it: 'In less than two weeks, the Istanbul Express train will arrive in my hometown Amsterdam. The subject is a second generation Chinese man who will show us his home and workplace, and can tell about his bonds with the 'dragon country'. A great challenge, as I've been told the Chinese community is usually closed for outsiders and generally don't kiss and tell.' On October 10, the trains arrive in Istanbul, the European Capital of Culture 2010, where the films will be edited and screened. Communications agency KesselsKramer, which launched Ben in 1999, has developed a new campaign for Ben vrij, the prepaid product of this telecom provider. The agency came up with the name Ben vrij and let two young filmmakers a total of 11 Directing TV commercials. Alain Friedrichs and Sarah Carlier were given only one instruction: show people on the phone in a distinctive way who feel completely free. The only constraint: it has to fit within 10 seconds. Alain Friedrichs (29) is a third-year student at the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in Amsterdam. In 2006, he won the Student Award at the Netherlands Film Festival with his short film 'Façade'. During his studies, he made the trailer for the Cinestud festival, among other things. Alain directed 'footballer in living room', 'girl in bath' and 'grandma in square' for Ben. Alain on making the films: 'For a ten-second commercial, absolute simplicity is necessary. There is only time to sketch a situation. You can then relatively easily evoke a sense of freedom with atmospheric images and fine music, but we deliberately did not want to work abstractly. As a result, we looked for situations where no dramatic arc is needed to understand the comedic slant with a wink at freedom. The cliché proves itself once again: less is more. Sarah Carlier (28) is a photographer from Izegem in Belgium. She lives in The Hague, where she studied photographic design at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts. As a photographer, she has worked for cultural institutions and magazines and exhibited her own work in Rotterdam, Brussels, and Leuven, among other places. Her film experience leads back to her own projects, in which she pushes the boundaries of the medium of photography. Her films are characterized by a constant frame where the image changes only due to the movement of the characters. In addition, Sarah is currently completing a photo/film project in Romania. For Ben, she directed 'man in hotel', 'line-dance group', 'living statue', and 'grandpa on the street'. Sarah: 'I wanted the commercials for Ben to be as pure and realistic as possible, but combined with fantasy and humor. By sticking to this, I try to take the viewer into a recognizable reality and a somewhat bizarre world of imagination.'
