Now it is time to take this step, to meet the desire for play. I recently taught theater. Beautiful to do! As a teacher, play serves as an example, as a stimulus or as a mirror. NOW I discover, I want this continuously, I want to play myself... and no longer teach. Time to take the plunge. My appearance is fine, as are my playing skills. Acting in front of TV, no problem. I want this, acting, to put myself on the map. There I am: On the map!

We have spare space in our beautiful building in Amsterdam West (formerly De Baarsjes). There are two spaces that are perfect for setting up as a production office and/or general office space. IRISH CINEMARATHON - 30 juli: Ter ere van de première van FIVE MINUTES OF HEAVEN (2009) overlaadt Kriterion zijn gasten met het beste uit de Ierse Cinema, met daarnaast een extra uitgebreide whiskey en cocktail proeverij van Iers boegbeeld JAMESON WHISKEY. Verder in Kriterion deze avond: IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER (Jim Sheridan, 1993) en BLOODY SUNDAY (Paul Greengrass, 2002) WORST MOVIE EVER NIGHT - 6 augustus: In Amerika en Engeland is het al een gigantische culthit. Tommy Wiseau regisseerde, produceerde en acteerde in 2003 voor 7 miljoen dollar het hilarische THE ROOM, onder kenners ook wel bekend als 'The Worst Movie Ever'. Na het smullen van andermans falen is er een Worst Movie Ever-afterparty in de foyer. CINEMA OBSCURA - 13 augustus: Een week na 'the worst film ever' schiet Kriterion door naar de andere kant, door naast een exclusieve voorpremière van Gaspar Noé's ENTER THE VOID twee andere hoogstaaltjes uit de filmgeschiedenis te vertonen: EL TOPO (Alejandro Jodorowsky, 1970) en EYES WITHOUT A FACE / LES YEUX SANS VISAGE (Georges Franju, 1960). Een speciaal programma voor fijnproevers die deze moeilijk te vinden klassiekers op groot doek willen aanschouwen 80'S ACTION MAN-ATHON - 20 augustus: Omdat mannen weten wat mannen willen: bloed, zweet en gruwelijke harde actie! Enkele weken voor de première kan jij in Kriterion al het langverwachte THE EXPENDABLES (Sylvester Stallone, 2010) aanschouwen (onder voorbehoud). Herleef de hoogtijdagen van '80s action met Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Arnold Schwarzenegger en Bruce Willis in één film. Als je daarna nog adrenaline over hebt voor meer spieren en guns, pak dan gelijk even COMMANDO (Mark L. Lester, 1985) en RAMBO: FIRT BLOOD PART II (George P. Cosmatos, 1985) mee. Verder in de foyer alles wat mannen mannen maakt: bier, worst, armpje drukwedstrijden, touwtrekken, krachtmetingen en veel meer. Bezwete oksels, snorren en haantjes gedrag worden aangemoedigd. Wijn en mixdrankjes worden afgeraden. B.O.A.R.D.C.I.N.E.M.A - 27 augustus: Deze avond wordt dé surffilm-avond van het jaar! Kriterion wordt onherkenbaar omgetoverd in een surfparadijs. Waar je kunt skaten in de foyer, surfen op de WC, loungen op de Beach Boys en waar de zomerdranken rijkelijk vloeien. Met uiteraard de onvergetelijke surffilms BEAUTIFUL LOSERS (Aaron Rose, 2008) en TAILGRAB (indy flick). Preview KLIK! Animatie - 28 augustus: Voorafgaand aan het KLIK! Animatie festival (16 t/m 19 september) vertoont KLIK! in samenwerking met Filmtheater Kriterion een programma in cinema De Balie van de grappigste, origineelste en meest ontroerende korte animatiefilms die KLIK! te bieden heeft. De toegang is gratis. Pluk de Nacht announces opening film From August 5 to 15, the largest open-air film festival in the Netherlands will take place for the seventh time in Amsterdam at the Stenen Hoofd on the IJ. For 11 days, the best national and international feature films, documentaries, short films, and animations that have not (yet) been released in Dutch cinemas will be screened on a giant film screen. In the past six editions, Pluk de Nacht has proven its ability to present an innovative program and introduce exceptional films to a broad audience. In 2009, the festival attracted more than 25,000 visitors. In addition to film, Pluk de nacht traditionally pays considerable attention to other, related art forms, such as web art, film music, installations, and photography. Opening film - La Pivellina We are proud to announce that the festival opens this year with the film 'La Pivellina'. This deeply human film offers a glimpse into the life of a close-knit circus community in Italy. Filmed in such a documentary style that you might almost fall for it – but it really is a feature film. 'La Pivellina' is a moving story about courage, discrimination, loss, and brotherhood. Touching, engaging, and heartwarming. The film had its world premiere in 2009 during the Quinzaine des Realisateurs at the Cannes Film Festival and has since won many awards. The Festival Pluk de Nacht stands for sultry summer evenings with the finest films on the big screen, beach chairs, warm blankets, snacks & drinks, and swinging tunes to end every evening on a festive note.
