From June 15 to June 20, 2009, IDFA is organizing the Summer School in Amsterdam. This is a six-day training program for emerging documentary filmmakers. The Summer School focuses on fifteen filmmakers who wish to further develop their film plan during the script development phase. Through tailored coaching with eight international documentary experts, the makers are helped to take a significant substantive step forward. Emerging filmmakers can apply with a project. A total of two people per project can participate in the Summer School, ideally the director and a sparring partner. The deadline for registration is March 27, 2009.
