Filmschool A'dam starts new training for commissioned film

PRESS RELEASE February 16, 2009 FILMSCHOOL AMSTERDAM STARTS IN SEPTEMBER 2009 NEW TWO-YEAR EDUCATION 'COMMISSION FILM' In September 2009, the newly established 'Film School Amsterdam' will start with a brand new course: COMMAND FILM. This two-year course is aimed at talented people who want to start their own business in the AV sector. The Film School is an initiative of Open Studio Video & Digital Media. Open Studio has been around for more than 35 years and offers a wide range of services in the field of video and digital media. In the current market there is a great demand for people who can independently create content for all kinds of media within a budget and schedule: for example company films, trailers, video clips, items for websites of (local) broadcasters and newspapers. The CUSTOM FILM course focuses on making productions commissioned by an external client. The students learn the intricacies of this profession in a technical and creative sense. In addition, they are prepared to work as an independent entrepreneur after the training. Various productions will be commissioned during the course. Trips to film festivals, professional meetings and an optional film trip to New York are also part of the programme. The COMMISSION FILM course lasts two years and consists of a mix of fixed modules and electives. There are regular exams and the students make a number of productions commissioned by various clients, on which they receive feedback from professionals. After the training, there is the possibility to opt for an additional trajectory at the project office of the training. In this process, the young entrepreneurs are actively guided in setting up their own business. For example, they can participate in network meetings, workshops and special pitches to win their first assignments. There will be an information afternoon on March 4 at 4:00 PM on the program at Johann Siegerstraat 16. For more information about the program and registration: www.openstudio.nl/filmschool.
